  • The bug is in the Webbrowsers, because a random webpage can do that.

  • Also, it locks alternative sources to the Play Store out. How convenient, right?

  • Soo, don't do that?

  • Ok, admitely.

  • I got lucky and mine has factory libredrive mode support. They changed the drive inside the case now though, Pioneer to Hitachi-LG. That one needs flashing.

And about archiving: it depends. Burnables, you can expect around 10 to 20 years in dry, dark places with stable climate. Though some charges have manufacturing defects, become literally spinning rust after a few years. Considering the duplicate for safety, or some expensive special archiving disk (if you believe the vendor), are they still cheaper? Also consider, that optical drives already get rougher mechnaically, because the fabrication chain from the 2000s is lost. And in software too, they go the path of legacy.

  • The company is named after the corrupting all-seeing surveillance orb from Lord of the Rings.

Wait, seriously? I thought this was a coincidence.

  • Launching a crewed spacecraft to Mars might require 2 to 4 megawatts of power, meaning multiple MPD thrusters operating for more than 23,000 hours.

Btw, what happened with the VASIMIR engine after the ISS tests in 2011ish? I think i've read that it could do the whole trip in 5 months (high-impulse insertion burns, high-speed & low-impulse travel). Somewhere on the shelves? Too high power draw?

  • What was it again? 1 Watt is ~= lifting a 100g schoko 1 meter (ignoring inefficiencies in muscles). Did i get the unit right?

  • Yeah, not much of a literature connoisseur myself but some articles just need a simple-language summary. And on some days moreso.

Btw, there was this interviewe that made it really hard to extract any useful information from her torrent of words. Almost fell asleep there.

  • But the environment is "Folksseele", important to the people. And it was too hot already in April, the glaciers melt away.

  • So you didn't read it.

  • TIL, thanks!
