  • The traces being exposed is a non-issue, might just add clear nail polish to prevent oxidation.

If a trace is completely severed, it can be restored - often with just a solder blob bridge.

I can say with absolute certainty that there used to be a capacitor in that position, you’ll definitely want to find and reattach it or source a replacement based on a schematic / boardview.

I find it interesting that my Google search engine results seem to differ substantially from yours

None of these stand out as being Generative AI to me, but maybe I’m missing something.

  • 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Controller lineup is at 1000hz

Gamesir G7 Pro 8k and Razer Wolverine V3 go up to 8000hz

  • I think it has more to do with where you play than what you play.

For PC games at a desk, keyboard and mouse are already the more precise control method. I know that, for myself, I’m only ever using controllers for the types of games where that format is ideal, at which point I don’t need the precision pointing of a mouse let alone a trackpad.

Meanwhile, I wouldn’t consider a handheld without trackpads because the places where I use one would make adding a mouse cumbersome and impractical.

Since getting the Steam Deck, I’ve never really thought to myself “I really wish I could control my mouse without taking my hand off this controller” while sitting at my desk.

IMO the best use-case for the Steam Controller, and particularly its touchpads, is playing from a couch in front of something like a TV or projector, or maybe from a very reclined position at a desk.

  • Polling rate is a hit of a bummer, but then again the Xbox Elite controllers I’ve been using have a lower polling rate and I haven’t really noticed - probably because I’d never use a controller for anything competitive.

Looking forward to clicky switch upgrade kits, love the ones I have for Steam Deck :)

  • For me, ray traced lighting might actually make this look worse than the original on anything but higher end / recent hardware.

Been playing Crimson Desert and the lighting artifacts in RTGI are very distracting, really makes me wish for a traditional lighting option.

  • A single downvote was the tipping point?

How are you handling the 15 you’ve had in your first 4 hours here?

  • I was mostly stuck on the “the only way” part of your comment. In terms of accessibility, I don’t know that the domain method would really be any better - not to mention that it’s limited to Pro/Enterprise Windows editions that most consumers aren’t getting.

The audit mode path is more GUI friendly but, similar to the Domain option, still requires pre-existing knowledge or web search.

Here’s hoping Microsoft actually follows through on loosening this restriction, even though I largely hold the position that basic users’ security benefits from the MS Account setup.

  • The only way to create a local user account on windows 11 now without fuckery is pretending you are going to domain join. No other method exists without under the hood tweaks. A similar workaround would work.

Depending on your definition of “under the hood”, this isn’t really accurate. You can invoke CMD to create an account or enter Audit mode to do the same. Neither of these methods require preparation of separate installation media.

While some of the comics might have the potential to be mildly funny, the unnecessary bimbofication of characters in every single comic detracts from that.

Some that I’ve seen teeter on the edge of misogyny and transphobia.

Overall vibe is that this was drawn by 14 year olds, for 14 year olds.

  • I’m still pretty early in, but the thing that really blows me away is how alive the world feels.

Just moving through nature, there are all kinds of critters dipping in and out if bushes every which way.

On my journey yesterday, I passed through a tannery, a quarry, textile production, and a small encampment that seemed dedicated to charcoal production. Most fantasy RPGs have big cities, small villages, maybe some mines and farmland, and then Wilderness.

Crimson Desert is giving me the impression they really thought out and put in every little logistic that goes to supporting these kinds of societies.

  • The game is just about…

You could be this reductive about any game or, really, any other form of media.

Games are often about much more than their core gameplay elements, and that is especially true here. The GTA games are crime dramas with excellent storylines - especially IV and V, whose stories rivaled those of the TV shows. They’re packed full social and political commentary, satirizing American culture.

Each game is like a slice of American life in a time capsule.

  • Mostly just visual in terms of shine vs matte. For the quality of the joint itself, lead-free has a higher melting point so you need more heat to keep it flowing nicely.

Your joints will do what they’re supposed so, so they’re fine. Chasing perfection is just a fun minigame.

  • Journey To The Savage Planet has some decent giggles

  • As another mentioned, there is no algo here

The Lemmynsfw instance died and was resurrected as Fedinsfw not long ago, I imaging there’s a massive rebuilding effort underway spawning new communities and content.

Nice thing about having this kind of content concentrated in one major instance is that you can block that instance and have very little Porn NSFW material in your feed :)

  • Hell yeah, I bet Quake II is incredible on this setup!

In all seriousness, there are decades of wonderful games to enjoy with a setup like this. Doesn’t always have to be about the latest and “greatest”
