  • I'm using (Gemini 3.1 pro in) Gemini cli to build a complex (personal) project to explore how to use these tools. My impression is that the code produced by LLMs is disposable/throwaway. We need to babysit the model and be very hands on to get good results.

  • Let me rewrite your question, and correct me if I'm misrepresenting it:

"Why should we spend resources on X instead of Y?"

Well, for this kind of question, I would prefer to choose a "high value" X and an "important" Y.

Space exploration, and science as a whole, is extremely cheap and good for humanity.

Let's talk about other expensive "X" first:

    • Unnecessary war efforts.
    • ICE (if we are taking about US)
    • Saving banks when they screw up on their bets.
    • Incentives to coal and gas when solar is already more viable ...

Maybe you started to think about it because that's an amazing subject, and it is. That alone should be reason enough for us to want to do it. But it is not the only reason. Space exploration already gave us a lot of tech we rely on today. And still, is a very difficult field that will require more tech advancements, that will benefit us in the future.

  • For rust the cross compilation may be useful, if you need a windows binary but can write te program in Linux.

  • Feels like trolling.

  • That perspective is very combative... It doesn't need to be.

  • "No, there is a photo... Definitely is the guy and his child. F*ck."

  • That's very concerning

  • After Ray-tracing and Path-Tracing, they presented uso with their newest technology: Slop-tracing.

  • Corporative social media pushed me out, ActivityPub seems a great solution to those problems.

    Then Reddit and Communism

  • As the values are already settled, I take both boxes.

  • Valve is solving the chicken-and-egg problem. For a developer, it is costly to maintain a separate build for Linux without the consumer base to justify the effort. And without games, most people will not leave windows.

Proton offers Valve independence from windows without effort and cost for the developers. And without penalties for the gamers as well.

  • I would love to buy the Frame, but I really hope the controllers will be available soon.

  • I would like it even more to see that working on a Xiaomi or Samsung

  • It would be nice to have more granularity on the filter. Also about the filter, is it regex?

  • I remember that was an issue discussed in the first days, not sure how big of a problem after that though.

  • Btop?

  • I believe that you are already brave; like the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, you just don't see that, yet.

  • (not sure if it was sarcasm btw)

  • Here in Brazil we consume beer close to freezing temperatures; it helps with the weather.
