The traditional ruling class in Lebanon are clinging to the myth of “Lebanon's strength [is] in its weakness”. This was enshrined as policy in the 50s and 60s as a way to avoid being bullied by regional powers (Syria, Israel).
But instead of building a true nation for all its citizens, entire regions suffered from underinvestment.
When the people in southern Lebanon rose up to defend the homeland from Zionist colonization, they challenged the existing balance of power.
It’s why we still have Beirut urbanites scoffing at how countries like Egypt and the UAE can make peace with the occupiers, so why can’t Lebanon?
Lebanon must build its strength and military, not only to liberate all occupied lands, but to challenge the Zionist myth of invincibility and Jewish supremacy.



To get more congressional seats, of course
