  • I know, I know I am just teasing :)

  • What?

It is just an ordinary ancient grave field, they are quire common here

  • Oh, and this is an old grave site from the iron or bronze age, if I am not mistaken

  • Sigh, the workers of the US needs to form sector based unions, not just individual workplace unions.

As a Swede, it is weird to read about how one workplace is unionized and another isn't.

  • Most of the commute is on the bus on the E18 motorway north of Stockholm, I work in the center of the city, but live in the suburbs.

    It is a nice arangement.

  • I saw an article yesterday about how there are still areas where you can't hunt and eat wild boar in Sweden due to them containing way too much radioactive cesium in the meat.

  • Hehe, I ment no disrespect towards you, I just find that to be an excellent expression to explain the importance of testing backups to non tech people.

  • Repeat after me:

"An untested backup does not exist"

  • Fucking lol.

    Well deserved.

    How was your week?

  • Yesterday, I decided to take a long drive through the lovely area Roslagen, an hours drive north of Stockholm.

And I got to drive this lovely road:

    https://maps.app.goo.gl/AQu6fdhgqN9z9QdG9

I love roads like these, beautiful and fun.

The ground was covered in windflowers so ir looked fantastic.

I also bought three audio books and finished one:

    Adrian Tchaikovsky - Alien Clay

Jack Scalzi - Old Man's War

    Michael Crichton - Congo

I finished Alien Clay, it was a bit too focused on the hardships for me.

I have heard the Old Man's War is good, and I enjoy Michael Crichton's works

  • I guess that with an orange lunatic in charge of the country, the USD has lost a lot of it's value.

You can clearly see that when Mr. Trump took office in 2025, the USD started falling rapidly.

And despite a few smaller recovery spikes since, the overall graph is pointing down.

  • NATO won't fall apart, keep dreaming dude.

At worst it will remain a pan Atlantic alliance, with Canada and most countries of Europe.

  • I don't doubt they had laws like these in place, I just doubt that anyone cared about them.

  • To be fair, I never saw any fire, and when the bus was evacuated, the driver drove on, probably to a garage or so.

  • I don't have one as dramatic as yours, but a month ot so ago, I was on the bus to the office, I had my Bose headphones on and was half asleep with closed eyes.

The bus were stopped, and I suddenly noticed an acrid smell, like burning plastic.

I opened my eyes and saw the interior or the bus filled with a haze of smoke.

The doors were open and the last few other passengers were spontaneously evacuating.

So I knew I had to leave and got out in 5 sec.

  • Yeah, the whole humanizing of AI is far more dangerous than most people seem to realize.

The fact that an AI can understand human conversations, and even respond like a human, is very dangerous.

One of, if not the largest danger facing humanity by AI is it being seen as an authority or expert on a given subject.

This will bring an era of far less critical thinking and make people far less able to use reason to question what the AI is telling them.

I liken it to the rise of smartphones and tablets replacing actual computer, and "it just works" technology, which sharply reduced the computer skill of the common man.

I know I am shouting doom and disaster about AI, but as someone who strongly value personal skills and abilities, AI deeply worries me for the future.

  • One of the biggest issues with AI is how it keeps engaging positively with the user regardless of what they are doing.

Has anyone had an AI respond with somwthibf similar to:

"NO! This is a bad idea."

    "STOP! This is dangerous!"

"It sounds like you might need professional mental health, this is normal and not something to be ashamed of"

  • I have a great mechanic for my car, they have a service cam feature, if they find something bad during a service, they will record a short video showing you car on the test stand, tyen walk over to the computer running the test showing the result, explain what they recommend including the cost, and you can approve/reject it straight in on the website.

The first time I serviced my car, I needed a wheel alignment, and they could resolve it right then and there, and I knew the cost before make the decision.

They are expensive but I trust them.

  • I am in general an optimist, so I probably painted a rosier picture than we can expect.

You are absolutely correct that it is very hard to distinguish if AI has been used or not.

And as you say, companies and in many cases governments have stopped thinking in longer terms.

    It sucks

Time for some dark history from 1945-1955 in Sweden - This is a doctor at the "slow minded" facility at Vipeholm, it is time to talk about dental experiments and ethics.
