Firstly, I'm tired of seeing the far left spaces being such a gatekeeper. They have this verification process where they make sure if you're safe to go, which basically means ideological purity testing. I have visited liberal and even conservative places and they are much more tolerant, open minded and willing to listen to other people's views. If anyone finds it off that I'm praising liberals and conservatives over leftists, then I'm glad I could strike a nerve. Idk what are these guys fighting for if they cannot handle a little unpopular viewpoint, and mind you I'm still a Marxist.
anyways, i avoided talking on this server for some days and yesterday decided "How bad could it be". So within some talk I saw the typical "all men are misogynist". I very calmly called it because the opinion "in a patriarchal society, everyone has internalised misogyny" and then proceeds to do typical liberal feminist thing of 'all men'. Another responded that men are the oppressors, to which i said a male and female worker are almost equally as exploited by their bougie bosses whether they are male or female or enby. Then I was hit with a bizarre counter – Wage gaps. Firstly, im aware of them and hence why I phrased it as "almost equally". I was not sure what to say here tbh because it seemed like the point should have been "even among the working class population, women have to face more with things like gender pay gap, workplace harassment, unpaid domestic labour, and the whole issue with manufactured consent" as im not living under a rock that I would be unaware of gender based inequalities and sufferings of people. But no, the point wasn't that, I was just steelmanning. the point was "men are inherently oppressive and need to be known that they have a bias against women, internalised misogyny" I was like bruh. you start with a material suffering and end it with essentialist notions of gender ? I said "do you not have that bias" to which the reply was "yes i do but men commit more crimes" . Lemme be clear, I am male, usually not much into women romantically but when i see such phrases I can't help but wonder what is the point being proven here ? it's almost a common knowledge that most rapes, domestic violence and harassment are carried out by men, but why drag everyone by making bullshit points like "internalised misogyny exists therefore all men are potentially harmful even though I myself have this internalised misogyny" so what am I supposed to do ? if we both share a delusion and bias, we can only talk about it in a non judgemental way but the moralistic attacks I faced just for asking "can you elaborate what do you mean" and "why all men ?" is crazy.
Now another argument was going on at the same time about the wage gaps and thing. i said i don't concern myself with wage gaps much because giving them importance means I advocate for fair wages which I don't, it's revisionism which is something I'm not fond of which sparked a crisis in the channel. "How can you not care about people dying from hunger" is literally a counter thrown at me like bro. i specifically mentioned that im for workers owning the means of production, which is a pretty non controversial view in leftist spaces. It was such a migraine of a conversation that I was having there. Every second even non controversial views in leftist spaces were receiving moralistic judgements and "WHAT ???" type of responses. One person had the role of council communist and I thought maybe this guy will understand but it was the first asshole to tall shit about it. Ik that communism and socialism are not exclusive to Marxism but materialistic way of seeing the world are still normal in leftist thought yet all i saw was a worse form of liberal identity politics there.
and guess what, I was banned by a mod when I was mostly respectful all the times and the other person was hurling personal insults. it seems like the people with whom i was talking with were "vibe communists", people who think communism is about fair wages and equality and having a higher moral ground.
this moralism and extreme close minded of far left spaces have made me more critical of woke ideology and its effects on general discourse where everything becomes, first and foremost about "checking your privilege", casually bashing an entire demographic but not allowing reciprocity, and ofc moralism. It is so much entrenched in its high moral ground that even a slight disagreement or nuance seems like an attack on people and their identities. I'm sure even here ill be called a misogynist or bigot but rant is a rant.
