A research team at the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has advanced "all-iron" flow battery technology.

This is actually interesting, since a redox flow battery is a fuel cell with long-term tank-based storage, so fundamentally suitable for seasonal load levelling of renewable production surplus, if sufficiently cheap.
