Which protocol should I use to mount the home on my file server onto my application server over the Internet?

I have 2 servers, vps and storage, with LDAP authentication set up. They are on different VPS providers.

I want to mount the /home folder on storage onto vps as the /home folder, such that when a user sign in on vps, the home folder is on storage.

Which protocol should I use?
