  • That's why it likely was a real helicopter. This is a pretty low-powered explosion, designed to just disable the helicopter. Here's a video of it on a real helicopter: https://xcancel.com/LucasGimne79974/status/2029851274955431963#m

    Same lack of rotor movement.

And here's a screenshot of the video of the explosion, clearly showing smoke going underneath the rotors:

I don't think Iran has the tech to make paint float in the air ánd survive an explosion.

  • Someone shared a video of a helicopter with tied down blades being hit with similar munitions, and the rotor blades do indeed stay fixed in place.

I also wonder how the smoke is supposed to appear underneath the rotors if they're painted on the ground. And there also appears to be a parallax effect with the ground, also impossible for a painting.

It could still be a decoy (eg out of wood or other materials) but it really doesn't look painted to me at least.

  • I'm not sure if I consider "Afghanistan during the Taliban guerilla war" a good example of ideal anarchist living. Nor what came after that for that matter.

  • Germany and Japan were fascist states that went on the offensive, and both were forced into total capitulation followed by extensive programmes to uproot the fascist elements from their societies, paired with programmes to help rebuild.

Syria was primarily fighting a civil war against a dictator, not against the US and Israel.

In this case, Iran was attacked and its spiritual leader was assassinated. And as much as we dislike that guy, many Iranians did like him. Iran was then heavily bombed, including what appear to be civilian targets. There are no clear signs of widespread civil unrest that could topple the regime entirely yet.

I don't see this ending well anytime soon.

  • Tastes the same anyway

  • I've had McDonald's in Italy and it's the same cardboard taste there as it is elsewhere in Europe imo.

  • Unlikely, Europe would sooner buy more lng from the US than from Russia. And Russia's drone supplier is likely not supplying much anymore, especially after Iran saw that Russia's response to the US attacking is basically nothing. Putin is almost certainly very unhappy about this.

  • Doubtful. Librewolf still uses Firefox as base.

  • Isn't the situation in gonewild a clear sign it'd be wise to set up two separate communities? gonewildgals and gonewildguys or something? If a community is "too broad", niche content will always lose out. The answer is usually setting up a new community specific to that niche.

Fighting low-effort posts and memes either means setting up a meme community, more moderation on the posts or both.

  • WWIII is happening and you're worried about someone worried about optimising their gooning.

  • I mean genocide wasn't new, but industrializing it at the scale that he did was new.

  • The kids appear to be melting a bit.

  • Omarchy isn't really "art" though. It's a set of dot files on top of Arch basically. And not very good ones either, there's plenty to critique there. It also installs a bunch of US-based software like Spotify, Zoom, ChatGPT and Chromium, which seems to run counter to what you're trying to achieve with this post.

  • Not anymore really, the Taiwanese government has abandoned claims to the mainland.

  • Model train building can be considered a bit weird, but it's one of the most wholesome and welcoming communities you can find.

Sometimes I visit the subreddit for it and am reminded of what that site used to be. Genuine engagement, people just happy to show things off and providing really in depth feedback or tips when asked.

  • iDEAL is Dutch only. WERO is made by (some of) the people behind iDEAL (amongst others), which is also why iDEAL is turning into WERO soon-ish.

WERO is also just barely out of the womb and is slowly rolling out to a handful of countries first. The idea is that that rollout will grow to other countries after it settles a bit.

BLIK and WERO operate in different "markets" because Poland pays with the Polish Złoty (PLN), whereas WERO focuses on the Euro. Polish banks were originally involved with the project however, but they withdrew in 2022 (back when the plan was still to setup a rival card network to VISA/MasterCard).

  • What about the raptor engine that's recursively nested inside a larger raptor engine?
