  • I've requested confirmation and have only gotten it once or twice.

What I've started doing is actually just sending them their same exact terms via their corporate registered address (regardless of their instructions) with the arbitration clause and jury trial waiver and just about anything I don't agree to removed. I tell them so long as they continue to provide the services to me, that they implicitly agree to the terms I'm sending them, with any further updates requiring them to send a registered (not certified) letter.

I intentionally do not provide any way for them to identify my account except for the return address.

I figured if I ever had to go to court, one of these things would happen:

    • judge finds that the original terms are enforceable, which means I'm no worse off
    • judge finds that my amended terms are enforceable, which means it worked
    • judge finds both terms unenforceable and I can continue to sue them

So far, no company has ever written me back or turned off my access to the site.

I suggest everyone do this because these forced arbitration clauses are very anti-consumer and we need to start clawing back our rights.

  • Political correctness: I can't say what I want!

Conservatives Later: it's now illegal for you to say what you want

  • The GOP has shown, and proven, they will use any and all means necessary, including violence, to gain power. This isn't theoretical anymore.

I'm so tired of my family members and other people that identify as "centralist" saying that both sides are bad.

No....only one side has used violence to overthrow an election. And that side's political leadership said it was "normal political discourse".

If both sides are the same, then you should be upset that "both sides" are violent.

  • Thus proving your point.

  • I honestly like the new mobile experience. It seems more tidy.

When people say that it's "literally unusable" I'm like "what the fuck were you using it for?"

  • Trump's own lawyers said that the president could kill his political adversaries and be free from any charges.

  • My state has open primaries and I voted for Haley. Not because I support her but because giving her a boost in the primaries will be a good foil for Trump.

And, if in the small chance she gets the nom, she might actually be easier to beat than Trump. Not holding my breath on that one though.

  • Free. Your. Browser.

  • The only similarities between Nick Offerman and Ron Swanson are his giggle and his faithfulness to his friends.

  • Eh....having been on both sides of contracts like this.... typically a kill clause is sided heavily toward the one with money.

And even if it wasn't, Tesla has more money to drag out the fight in court long enough that the pie company won't be able to survive.

  • Try them with rice.

  • Car companies have definitely imagined this. And if they could, they 100% would.

  • Why text? Upload porn. Then contact another conservative state's Attorney General saying they should block the Indiana site for having porn.

  • This is why first past the post sucks...

We need ranked choice voting and we need it yesterday.

  • Iirc most laws do cover threats but aren't enforceable due in large part of the first amendment. So threats are only enforced when there is real, imminent danger to the victim.

Even in cases of threatening the president, you get a visit from the Secret Service and charges are rare.

I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice.

  • I think it was an episode of Suits or something similar where a guy was divorcing his wife but wanted to hide certain legal assets but hide it from his wife.

The episode made it sound like he had to launder the money so it looked like, on paper, it didn't belong to him and it implied that it wasn't legal but they did it anyway. I can't remember the details but basically why I asked.

  • Artisanal, locally sourced, organic cheese.

  • Slightly related question: is money laundering, in itself, illegal?

Like, say I have $1000 from my regular W-2 job, taxes paid.

I launder it through a bunch of accounts. Is that illegal?

Or is it the mixing with dirty funds that makes it illegal?
