  • If you find yourself randomly diagnosing strangers with depression consider seeing a psychiatrist.

  • That's because 99% of people don't care, exactly the same as with Microsoft. Average person will understand why monopoly is bad when there's only a single company that sells them gas and suddenly he has to pay $100 per gallon. With tech stuff they simply have no idea. It's not like they were using IE and thinking 'It would be so much better if this could pass Acid test'. With Chrome they don't think 'it would be nice if this could block youtube ads' and don't understand what Google controlling the internet really means. Even governments don't care about it for the same reasons we do. We don't like monopoly because of technology and standards. They don't like it because it slows down economy.

  • It was never a good time to switch to Chrome.

  • that to this day has been bug-free.

    Except it wasn't. https://twobithistory.org/2018/08/18/ada-lovelace-note-g.html

"In her “diagram of development,” Lovelace gives the fourth operation as v5 / v4. But the correct ordering here is v4 / v5. This may well have been a typesetting error and not an error in the program that Lovelace devised. All the same, this must be the oldest bug in computing. I marveled that, for ten minutes or so, unknowingly, I had wrestled with this first ever bug."

No idea why would you put so much emphasis on the idea she didn't make mistakes. It kind of misrepresents (and understates) her achievement for the sake of a sensationalist comment.

  • Why?

  • I never say why I edit my comments and no one ever asked me.

Whoever asks me why I edited this comment eats farts for breakfast.

  • Did you try removing the French language pack?

  • What? And here I am doing it for free...

  • Yep, can confirm. Over the last couple of week I closed 20.000 alts.

  • All I see is Texas.

  • Fun fact: in Spain we eat dinner for breakfast and breakfast for lunch.

  • She looks like a very troubled person. I definitely wouldn't deny someone a job only because of her allegations.

  • "The level of incompetence in this office...."

  • Just don't crash again. Simple.

  • That was my understanding. People talk about this change like it's going to disable adblock extensions completely which is clearly not the case. So far no one really explained what the actual impact will be. Do you know that? I see youtube ads might be harder to block. Anything else?

  • So does it block ads or not? Does it block youtube ads?

  • I've been to US and it's really hard to use public transport in places without sidewalks... Seriously, I once parked on the other side of the road from a cinema and discovered there's no way to cross the road without driving. The way everything is car focused goes way beyond poor lines and timetable. You would have to not only completely rebuild lots of infrastructure but also change culture and habits of most people living there.

  • I really don't know why but vast majority of shows go downhill so fast after the first season that I stop watching them anyway. And out of the ones that have solid 2nd/3rd season most will turn to shit before they finish anyway (Game of Thrones anyone?).

  • Just wait till the show is finished before watching.

  • They will say fossil fuel cars are closely tied to American history and culture and driving electric cars is unamerican. They don't need arguments, only emotions.
