Any pronouns. 33.

Professional developer and amateur gardener located near Atlanta, GA in the USA.

I'm using a new phone keyboard, please forgive typos.

  • Now, this Satyr, he asked if he could have your name and you replied by stating your name? Or did you say "yes" and then state your name? I see. I think you have a strong case that the Satyr stole your name. I'd be happy to represent you pro bono, do we have a deal?

  • I hate gyms so much. My wife's gym closed and moved and they never told her and kept charging her. She got charged for months for a gym she literally never stepped foot into or signed up for or was told that her contract was sold to another location. And when she called them to ask about it they had the audacity to say they couldn't contact corporate and that the manager was busy talking to the regional manager. You know, corporate. So corporate was literally there. Idk if there's any sort of statute of limitations but I have half a mind to take them to small claims court over it.

Also Expedia. Stole money from us. The website said no credit card required but it was a lie. When my wife went to get the rental car they wouldn't give it to her. Expedia wouldn't refund her nor give her store credit for another rental. Even ignoring the false advertising, she didn't get the rental. It wasn't like something where some.kod accidentally buys something on some.game and you can argue "well you actually received the goods so we can't refund you" because she literally never received the goods.

But I shouldn't give this shit any mental energy. It's ancient history. I've moved on. My mental sanity is worth more than the time I've spent stressing about it and the money we could potentially get back, but it's hard to really believe that sometimes.

  • My gripe is that we shouldn't be entertaining the narrative that people sneak in illegally at all by being cute and saying that people who illegally overstay their legal visas who legally and transparently entered are sneaking in illegally.

  • That's not sneaking in illegally, that's overstaying illegally.

  • I think they mean blaming Democrats on things prior to the existence of TSA.

  • Well no, someone entering legally isn't sneaking in illegally.

  • Guy who sells AI: This stuff is scary powerful and it keeps me awake at night. Nobody should be allowed to make this ever again. Make it illegal. Also, we can safely control it and use its power. Invest in us to use this useful tool. But nobody else can make a profit- er, I mean, do the dangerous thing.

  • OSHA maybe?

  • I AM BANKSY

  • The lack of The Purge is the friends we made along the way.

  • I haven't ever seen any of The Purge movies but either I heard or just always assumed that's why they all wear masks. Just because it's legal doesn't mean there aren't social consequences.

  • October 15th, 1582 is another one you see often. (Edit: Some date systems use this as 0 because it was the start of the proleptic Gregorian calendar.)

Don't forget December 31st, 1969 which you'll see when computers adjust UTC midnight at the Unix epoch to local time in the western hemisphere.

  • Wouldn't that just mean enter your lock code if you don't have thumbprint lock enabled?

  • It's possible that part of why those attacks don't really happen is precisely because it's already so controlled. That said, I still think this is BS. Don't mistake me as defending Google here.

  • I'm not criticizing you because that's the typical term, but we really need to stop calling it side loading. It's just installing. Calling it that makes it sound like something special and different.

  • Yeah, it's pretty crazy comparing this to some of the stuff Microsoft got in trouble for with Internet Explorer back in the '90s.

  • Why make this a table instead of a list?

  • You're being overly pedantic about my word choice instead of actually just discussing this without trying to be condescending and one up people. Online discussions are conversations, not competitions.

  • For a while they were completely removing the ability to install unsigned apps altogether. So continuing to allow it albeit with more steps is indeed stepping back somewhat from what their plans were.
