  • Phone app? Yes you have to use their own app. On a computer besides the browser version you can use Thunderbird and other applications if you download ProtonBridge.

  • I see. Somehow I missed your first edit with that information. It does not seem like that's an option given the response on the GitHub discussions: https://github.com/bitfireAT/davx5-ose/discussions/318#discussioncomment-5814992

    They suggest:

    creating a Tasker automation, or use an specialized application for synchronization like Syncthing or FolderSync for example.

    Apparently there's also the option to use NextCloud and their app if you want to go that route like someone else suggested.

  • Yes I've been using DAVx⁵ for many years to sync my Synology Calendar to my phone via WebDAV and my contacts via CardDAV. Any concerns you have?

  • Just a preference thing since it makes it more like how Windows and some Linux distros do window management.

    Hitting Alt + Tab brings up a preview of all windows that you have open with the ability to scroll / tab through them.

    Hitting Alt + ` while focused on a certain application shows a preview image of each window for that application that you have open.

    I personally like it more than the OSX default but to each their own.

  • I'm using it and a Logitech G502 but I haven't played around to see what things it can and cannot do compared to Logitech's own software. On Linux I use Piper to manage my mouse with a closer parity to Logitech's actual software.

  • AltTab: Windows alt-tab on macOS

    Rectangle: Keyboard based window management.

    Linear Mouse: Per-device settings for Mouse, Track Pad, etc. Things like pointer super, scroll direction, and mouse acceleration.

  • Why not use Rectangle? While Magnet looks like it probably does a lot more and has more customization I'm having a hard time seeing the difference to make it worth that price vs. free. Can you explain your thoughts? 🙂

  • Now that Steam is all in on the Steam Deck and SteamOS there is much better support for games on Linux. See ProtonDB.

    Also, the Linux distro Pop!_OS has worked quite well for me for games. I use the NVIDIA version which bundles NVIDIA's propietary library blobs which also helps with the game compatibility.

    But all in all I agree with you that even with all of this it is not as smooth as just click and play on Windows. 🙂 Plus some games just don't work on Linux at all so there's that. Lol.

  • As others have said you can set these Reolink PoE cameras up on different systems without using their app forever.

    I for one have set up Reolink cameras on Synology's Surveillance Station successfully after a one time setup with Reolink's app. Meaning I used their app to get it connected to my WiFi and then immediately set the camera's DNS etc. to it's own IP.

    Once that was accomplished I set up the camera on Synology and now I only use Synology's app for access. In no way does Reolink successfully phone home after this. While it isn't ideal it's pretty great once this is completed.

  • Species from 1995. Parents and their friends were watching it and told us to not come in because it was too scary.

    I thought they were bullshitting young me...I was wrong. Lol. Had wonderful nightmares for a while.
