  • I agree that bringing a first aid kit to a peaceful protest is not evidence that someone is planning violence.

I disagree that bringing a first aid kit along with explosives and assault weapons to a planned confrontation is evidence someone was attending a peaceful protest.

  • And kind of proving my point, too. Taking the problem you mentioned and making it about you and how it’s your fault for not having picked the right instance.

Excuse me, but I specifically said "I'm not saying you're doing this". You're also twisting my words to mean the exact opposite of what I said. Calling a network of people "Lemmy" I feel lumps all instances together and ignoring the very real agency of admins to remove bad actors.

I believe the problem of harassment should NOT be up to the individual to "choose an instance". Instance admins need to be held accountable for what they expose their users to the same way Mark Zuckerberg needs to be held accountable for the harassment on his platforms. If an instance admin is exposing their users to harassment, they need to take actions to protect their users. If they don't other admins have a responsibility to defederate.

And just so we're clear, I'm not "giving a tech solution to a human problem", I'm specifically saying this can only be solved by humans. Specifically the humans who have a responsibility to their users.

  • My personal tastes have nothing to do with the topic being discussed. Stop trying to provoke an argument or I'll report you.

  • This is total alarmist misinformation. The "evidence of terrorism" was not "using Signal" or "carrying a first aid kit", it was taking part in an armed assault on an immigration facility where a dozen people set off fireworks and shot a police officer with an AR-15.

The prosecution used the presence of the first aid kit they carried during their armed assault, along with actual messages (not metadata) from a Signal chat to make the case that the attackers planned on using violence.

There are a lot of problems with this case, IMO the most dangerous part here is that adds legitimacy the (false) idea that "antifa" is an organization that exists. Something the Trump administration has been struggling to prove. This X post takes small details out of context.

    1. Don't trust anything ever posted to X. Especially something that discourages the use of private messaging apps.

    2. I highly recommend everyone report this this post to your admins and strongly recommend all instance admins ban/warn accounts like OP. If we want the fediverse to catch on it needs to be more factual, not knee jer.

  • Lemmy is just software, if your instance isn't banning misogyny immediately on sight then that's a moderation problem. I'm not saying you're doing this, but I don't think we should let instance owners off the hook for what happens on their platforms.

  • Yeah it’s not that they don’t exist it’s that artists/producers aren’t focusing on the album experience as much.

  • THERE. ARE. FOUR. CDS 😭

  • Someone once said to me "If a creative project is of high quality, the longer you look at it the more details you'll notice. If it's bad, the longer you look at it, the more detail you notice is missing."

And I think that about sums it up. AI slop is programmed to be eye catching but can't produce much detail beyond that.

  • This is my memory as well, except not so gradually after S1.

  • I loved Earth Final Conflict season 1. Total X-files vibes. Very mysterious and cool.

Season two was... fine. I genuinely can't believe it went on for three more after that.

  • What's your favorite episode so far and why is it episode 4 and 5 combined?

  • I can't see anything through these tears. I'm in SFA withdrawl.

  • It's not that they don't exist it's that artists/producers aren't focusing on the album experience as much. The album used to be the thing, and the single was the bait to lure you into purchasing it. Now, the single is more likely to be the thing.

  • Oh wow even better! So this is great for people with four CDs, three CDs, maybe even two!

  • Not bad honestly

  • Wow, that's very helpful for uh, holding... four CDs I guess.

  • Unless I'm mistaken Odysee isn't using ActivityPub...
