  • The bee does not concern itself with convincing the fly that honey is better than shit.

  • I don't want to read about unearthing zombie anything in Africa, pick a better word. Derelict or outdated but not zombie.

  • Get a carbon monoxide detector.

  • Not only can the kisses that feel good not look good they can also at the moment of maximum feel goodness make a sort of farting sound.

  • The reason for this is that on holidays and weekends when people allow themselves to sleep past their usual waking times they enter a lighter sleep called the Nessun Dormant phase characterised by unconscious singing like Pavarotti, which can unsettle pets.

  • 'We've got lumps of it 'round the back'.

  • Early on Starmer was interviewed about the NHS and he squeezed out a few tears about how well his mum had been treated and at the time I thought that was something he should have kept only for himself and knew this day would probably come.

  • To re-phrase for the cheap seats people are willing to pay for familiarity and ease of use within a contained and overwatched environment. This demographic will make the transition to AI guardianship with barely a blip on the resistance scale. I am not being derogatory, it is probably the smart move.

  • They dont like them in any meaningful way, they are shiny, they are used to them and everyone they know has one. That is the size of it.

  • The problem is the decision makers are not trying to improve society they are only trying to look like they are trying.

  • The key phrase that explains it all here might be AI.

  • They should hope the universe doesn't have a sense of humour.

  • Each column is arranged in numerical order, the columns might represent some arbitrary division that makes sense only in terms of the function of the building. The first column might be all the floors which deal with marketing, the second accounting and so on. When you arrange things objects alphabetically camshafts would be next to cameras which without knowledge of the alphabet would make no sense (ACC).

  • You have been saving that one, but any campaign of that sort would be jumped on by the pap-arazzi.

  • When I was young television was run to inform and educate. Programmes for children and adults ran at natural speeds taking their time to unfold ideas. Then business graduates took over and everything was fast and flashy but said nothing anymore. Then later the internet came and at first it was run by the technical people who had designed it and there were personal websites on any interest you might have and newsgroups where people from all over the world took time to help others in their own area of expertise. Then the business graduates took over and everything was bright and fast, ill informed and run only for profit or to profile the user which is the same thing but worse. The repeated trend here is clear and common, people who are able to create things very often have a notion of acting for the good of society. When these things do well they are overrun by a different sort of person, one who has no feeling for the common good or wellbeing, one who in fact often disdains it and is motivated only by greed and will without conscience ruin anything good for profit. The second sort of person should be identified and nullified and corrected and the first type allowed to flourish and not the reverse as is the case in the world we have allowed to grow up around us.

  • Companies think and make decisions in this way all the time, against consumer planned obsolescence is a fundamental part of their philosophy. Usually it is in ways that are too technical or esoteric for the general user to follow but here they have forgot themselves and made a play that is obvious to a great many of their customers.

  • There is no reason they would be healthier or have a good shape, they might focus on a few muscle groups that gave them the best feedback. They might be puny with giant forearms like Popeye or have one big calf.

  • To my mind that is not more cynical, it is just a layer of grift on top, like scum. The real cynicism is the misanthropy of betting against humanity.

  • Would not the water moving through the pipe be more correctly described as moving through the air in the pipe rather than the metal of the pipe.
