  • We use any tool to make the things we desire and a thing we have to admit is a large number of us desire profit even at the expense of the utter degradation of our cultural and actual environment. We are the only animal that doesn't know that you don't shit where you eat.

  • China is very strong in propaganda, focussed inwards and outwards which is the nub of this. In comparison the West is a clumsy amateur at best.

  • OP get a carbon monoxide detector.

  • When I was young I took a camera on every school trip and photographed all the scenery but now looking back the only thing that is interesting about those photographs is when I accidentally included someone from my class. All those places are still there but the people are gone.

  • They say the next big thing is here. That the revolution's near. But to me it seems quite clear. That's it's all just a little bit of history repeating.

  • Trump boasts of Tehran’s [start mumble] acceptance of our [end mumble] ‘unconditional surrender’

  • Finite but not fixed, maybe the time spent on this caused me to miss some rendezvous with fate I otherwise had and so gained a great many seconds by it.

  • Who would want memory encryption for the hoi polloi to be quietly removed and what colour hat would you think they might wear.

  • Are you asking why people have preferences.

  • In my defense I would say I know next to nothing about common or civil law but was just adding my uninformed tuppence worth because that is what Lemmy is all about. All us monkies gabbing on so that AI can learn how to talk as well as what we does and then kill us all.

  • My guess was Snapple.

  • Right on New Year's Eve the house party I was at had an argument with another party three houses away about which would win a tennis tournament and we really needed a court.

  • Look how out of touch we are with ordinary people but it's ok because you have also never heard of us.

  • The fact that lawyers and a jury are needed does indicate that justice is about showtime arguments rather than the clockwork application of the law to the facts by a judge.

  • Hoarding is not the correct way to think of billionaires amassing grotesque wealth, hoarding is the old couple putting cash under the bed. For the old couple it is their money and their business. What billionaires do is a significant societal drain on resources and should be dealt with accordingly, akin to war crimes.

  • Hoarding is not illegal, maybe it should be, certainly at scale but currently it is not so measures to stop it are not lawful at this time.

  • Strictly you stopped getting that particular error message.

  • What it is actually saying is if you don't know how to gain access to edit this file you should not be editing this file.

  • Why is everything suddenly $300 billion.
