The right wing has wanted this for years because California is very conservative outside of its cities. Splitting the state up would guarantee a Republican Senate.
Democrats were pretty cool about protecting trans people.
But thanks to non-voters and $hill Stein voters (along with tens of millions of “low information” Trumpledorks), Trump has all three branches of government at his disposal.
The fringes of the political “wings” (left and right) seem similar to me, not so much in policy but in the rabid, simplistic attitudes and outright derision constantly sputtered.
Yeah the protests seemed to have mostly stopped since the election. They achieved their goal of disenfranchising Democrats and getting Trump elected. Whaaat? Yeah I said that. To those who are about to yell at me, I ask this: Who exactly was the protest leadership? I don’t mean your local organizer. I mean who was directing the protests at the national level. I sure as shit don’t know. And if Gaza is sooo much more important than Sudan, the decade long civil wars in Syria and Yemen, the forced relocation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, and whatever the fuck is going on in the Congo, why have you stopped protesting?
Not division, just facts. Millions sat on their hands rather than do the bare minimum to forestall whatever the Hell the right wing is going to unleash on us all.
