So what's up with "not gonna lie"? I've been hearing it for over a decade, and I hear it from known liars, people I trust, and all the shades of in-between. This is the first time I've seen it on Lemmy.
If someone I trust says it, I trust them less.
If a liar says it, I know they're about to lie. It's the "I'm not racist but" of liars.
I worked with a woman for years that said "not gonna lie" roughly 30 times a day. I liked her, I just hated that so I could be biased.
I realize this is completely derailing the post but do you have any insight on this phrase?
Multiparty democracy would be fantastic but that's a goal if we make it through this crisis. A more realistic (yet still fanciful) plan would be to destroy the Democratic party and create something new from the ashes. First past the post is here to stay for a long time.
I feel this way about Barron Trump every time I see him. He's barely got any chance of leading a decent, moral life. I guarantee mental health issues have already begun to manifest. For fuck's sake his dad named the kid after his alter ego, John Barron.

We are still using VGA on current gen installations for the primary display on the most expensive patient monitoring system products in the world. If there's a second display it gets displayport. 1080p is still the max resolution.
My landlord offered to sell me the house I rent for $67k. It extremely small and needs probably 40k in repairs to even make it safe to live in. This is in one of the lowest cost of living areas of the country. You can't make good money here unless you travel for work or have advanced degrees or certifications AND/OR know the right people

I hope you'll give him another look. Any person's supporters can be shitty. I'm sure if he heard what they were saying in his name he'd lay the smackdown. If you consider him just as a politician, on the merits of the legislation he has supported and opposed, I hope you'll see he's a valuable ally.
When we only have three or so people in Congress working for the workers of the country maybe we shouldn't throw him out because of something his supporters did.
Check out Bernie Sanders. Yeah he's 80 years old but he's fighting for the poor and middle class his whole life. He's the only senator in the US that doesn't belong to either political party.
This guy got arrested marching for civil rights with Martin Luther King. It sucks that he's so old but his mind is sharp. He, Warren, Lina Khan and Alexandria Cortez are the only national level politicians I respect. And Lina Khan got fired by Trump already.
