  • There are mods that allow redstone to run from chunks that are further away than render distance, but I don't think it's going to scale that far. I wonder what the actual limit is.

    To get customers to upgrade, they have to release Windows 12. We only upgrade every other major version, because every other major version is terrible. Including W11.

  • So realistically, disinformation campaigns have been poisoning Western social media since probably around 2013, maybe even earlier - that's when I became aware of it. I noticed it crept into reddit's public space little by little. So it's not like it would have slapped you in the face. But one day, there it is, and you're not quite sure how it got there until you look at the path behind it.

  • I thought the writing was on the wall for a very, very long time. Reddit has a sordid history with donors, content, and the suppression of non-popular opinions. It has been a death by 1000 cuts. I've had a reddit account since before there were subreddits, and I can say it's not even a husk of its former self despite being many orders of magnitude bigger. What was once a prized resource for most any bit of information or niche is now pig slop fed to the masses by bot armies.

  • Skinny jeans, ultra tiny phones, basically anything that was a PITA to use or traded comfort to look fashionable.

    Two things I want to see come back is JNCO style jeans that are enormous, and zipoffs. Oversized jeans - that's comfort right there. I lived through that. There's nothing like being able to put your 2" thick 10 lb math textbook in your back pocket like a wallet, lol. Zipoff pants / convertable pants were the bomb. You could be warm on a cold morning and have shorts in the afternoon. I really miss those, and the lack of cargo pockets today. Where have all the cargos gone???
