  • What is your favorite streaming service?

  • I love onhockey because it has multiple leagues. However, on iOS devices the ads/popups are horrible to deal with (even with brave), so I'll use nhlbite.com when needed. I don't know of another site like onhockey that has all leagues.

    There's also nhl66.ir that provides great quality streams, but you need a VPN to watch now. nhl66 also does not work on iOS anymore. Works fine on Android.

  • Just a green tea bag in a mug with hot water. I leave the tea bag in the whole time. No milk or sugar. Sometimes I’ll drink celestial herbal tea, but it’s very strong if you leave the tea bag in too long.

  • I mean, the top says “up to”, which technically means Amazon doesn’t even need to apply a discount. I would be more concerned if it said “save 25% today” and then dropped to “save 5% today.”

  • It was originally classified as a town, because there used to be a lot more people not long ago. Many people left because there wasn’t enough work, and it’s not a very opportunistic place for kids.

  • A free for all, late Friday deployment is baffling… We’ve got a strict window of Tuesday-Thursday for releases (unless it’s a critical issue), and a 2-3 day merge freeze to help mitigate unexpected changes.

    We’ve got a relatively small team with LOTS of moving parts, so minimizing deployment issues is always top of mind.

  • I do love me a Linux machine, but most of my time is spent in Windows for work.. No escape, unfortunately. Plus EXE is easily recognizable from most people, so it just made sense.

  • My cat’s name is Shadow. I do a lot of techy things, so “EXE” felt like a cool thing to add. “ShadowEXE” doesn’t flow as much as “ShadowCatEXE”. I also have alt names with DLL instead of EXE, but it’s not as cool.

  • Service Canada. It wasn’t a physically super long line, but the shit people were there for took hours.

  • There's a couple things... First, it's a habit to be constantly pressing CTRL+S. I've been doing it for many years, I'll continue to do it probably until I stop using a keyboard. It's such an easy keystroke, since my hands are almost always hovering over the keyboard. Second, in some software you can create new documents without first creating a file on disk. This means that when I go to hit CTRL+S, it prompts me to save the file. That's not to say that some software can't save a recovery version of the document in the event the software crashes, but I'm not going to bet money on it working 100% of the time. I'd rather be proactive and personally make sure my work is saved. Gives me peace of mind.

  • Yeah, I don’t trust the auto save to save my work properly. I work as a Software Engineer, and any small change I make, even if I’m not done with the change and I’m just thinking, my hands immediately default to CTRL+S.

    Always always make sure your work is being saved if it means something to you. Especially since windows will force update and reboot your computer. Battery’s can die, power can go out and your computer shuts down. Applications can and will crash.

  • Skateboarding shoes. I was heavy into skateboarding as a kid, and I’d constantly be buying cheap Walmart shoes, and they’d tear up so quickly, I’d go through a handful of pairs each summer. When I purchased my first pair of actual skate shoes (they were either Globe or Etnies), they lasted longer than an entire summer.

  • My dad has said on multiple occasions that the best steak he ever made was with just salt and pepper. However, every time he makes steak, he proceeds to put some kind of marinade on it, and it always turns out like leather.

  • Family history of cancer. My grandmas from both sides had it. Other family members died from it. So, probably from some form of cancer or sickness.

    If not, probably due to a motor vehicle accident (motorcycle, ATV, Snowmobile, car) or some other form of stupidity.

  • Not every iOS device uses a SIM card, and not every SIM enabled device uses one. It's a potential way to verify location, but not a reliable one.

  • It’s possible, but I wouldn’t put it past Apple to ignore the VPN when checking your location. I’d suspect they’d check using more than 1 approach (Internet, GPS, country on your Apple account, etc) to verify your location.
