  • This. The window in which water isn't solid or a gas is very, very small.

  • The Iranian government is a piece of shit but they absolutely have the right to defend themselves. Military infrastructure being used to launch attacks from foreign soil is fair game. If you don't like the idea of another nation attacking you in retaliation then maybe consider that next time you agree to host a US military facility on your land, let them use your airstrips, or otherwise supply them with arms/resources.

And, naturally, not a single mention of the opening hours of the war involving a US cruise missile being parked in a school full of nearly 200 children.

  • Cool, now fucking do something about it.

  • Ehhh, yes but also no.

8gb will struggle if you really push it, but MacOS handles RAM management well enough that most everyday tasks will work fine. But if you're really pushing the Neo often enough then it's probably not for you anyway. The 16gb Air would be a better pick in that case.

  • Love how China and Russia are cited as being the source of the tensions and there isn't a single mention about America's threats of war against Canada and the EU which has lead to their mass rearmament plans. Canada in particular is months away from dropping several billion on new non-American subs.

  • Whenever something like this happens where women speak out or something is done to benefit their safety, men just love showing up to give opinions that nobody asked for.

You could paste this article link in the most progressive-minded group you can think of and, like clockwork, a significant amount of men will be like "Ok great, but..." and drop some turd of a comment that beautifully highlights just how ignorant they are as to how unsafe women actually feel.

Hannah Gadsby did a fantastic show called Nannette which heavily goes into these topics and her own personal experiences. I can't remember the exact quote but she said something like "If this is all surprising to you then you're not talking with the women in your life."

  • I've had a personal boycott against EA (and Ubisoft, Activision, etc) for over 10 years now and time and time again I get reminded how good of an idea it was.

Also helped by the fact that EA titles are like $100 now and I'd much rather burn that money for a few minutes of heat than give it to the criminals at EA.

  • I never once said nor even implied that they were poor refugees and neither did Lumelore. We just said that rich people are to blame for the housing crisis. Rampant wealth inequality means that the majority of people on earth are not rich. Only a very very tiny few at the very top of the economic pyramid actually are.

Drop the strawmanning. It does no you favours.

  • Let this be a good reminder that the country that hosts your email service and the treaties/agreements they have are extremely important. A privacy-focused service means little if bad actors can obtain your data anyway via snooping treaties.

  • She could've worded it better, but she's not wrong either. Immigrants are not rich people. I'm not a rich person, you're not a rich person. The majority of Canadians, the majority of the world are not rich people. The overwhelming majority of people are not wealthy property-hoarders and are not the reason why we have a housing crisis.

The blame, as always, falls on the elitist ruling class that hoards wealth and resources to make the rest of us suffer for their gain.

  • I've heard numerous times that serving on a jury is actually very interesting and can be very fulfilling.

The problem is that it takes a sledgehammer to your life and routine and the system tells you to go fuck yourself. The financial compensation you are given is pathetic and they have no issues summoning you even if you live hours from the courthouse. There are a lot of people that would be homeless if they couldn't get excused from jury duty, and thankfully they do include financial hardship as a reason for being excused, but still. This results in our jury panels frequently being comprised of older people who are wealthy enough to spend weeks away from work, or are retired. That is not an impartial, unbiased jury of your peers.

I was summoned early last year and my excusal request was basically: "I'm disabled, have no car, and live in an entirely different city from the courthouse. wtf do you expect me to do?"

  • I'm legitimately surprised. I figured this would've been slammed through after the right pockets were lined.

  • I think it would be better to get humanity out from under the boot of tyrants before you make such judgements. We still live under the crushing oppression of kings, albeit under different names and often from the shadows.

  • Gods forbid a dangerous driver have their licence taken away and vehicle impounded. Anything but that!

  • This. Trump is just the puppet that talks funny on camera. The actual people pulling his strings are the ones behind shit like this.

There are definitely a few times he's gone off the rails and his handlers have had to rein him in, but he's not the one calling the shots.

  • Only 205? I would've thought we'd be in the thousands by now.

  • The issue I've had with the "Just shop somewhere else. Don't use Amazon" is that it's very US-specific response. Amazon has absolutely dominated the online shopping space in Canada for years because they are one of the few companies that dealt with the biggest reason why shopping online in Canada has been difficult: Shipping. $20-$40+ domestic shipping fees are normal in Canada for most other retailers which means you could be paying double the cost of your order (or more) just on shipping alone, so as soon as Amazon came in and offered free coast-to-coast shipping they had basically won the market instantly. There were teething issues, of course, and their earlier shipping contractors were horrendous but they did smooth most of that out.

Nowadays they still have very little competition that can beat them on shipping, but there are more and more options popping up. There are some Canadian online stores that offer free shipping or free if over a certain reasonable amount. The COVID pandemic really pushed a lot of local retailers to set up affordable online ordering and delivery systems for local customers, so that has also become an option. Aliexpress has also greatly improved their free shipping process to Canada and considering most of what Amazon sells is just rebranded Aliexpress stuff, it's a great way of getting the same items for cheaper if you're ok waiting a few extra days. So most of my online purchases these days have been a mixture of Canadian retailers and Aliexpress.

  • Many news agencies that operate in Canada (and claim to be Canadian) are owned by Americans, including several mentioned in this article. Post Media needs to be kicked out of the country.

  • Israel will never accept a ceasefire. They will never accept peace. They will never accept anything other than complete genocide and annihilation of the Palestinian people and their homes.

To even entertain the idea that Israel would accept and respect a ceasefire is an insult to the Palestinian people.
