Well, I could have gone into detail about their scientific and industrial value, but those aren't what massively inflates their perceived importance and price.
I got covid before I was allowed to get the first vaccines and I'm still pissed about that since I drove by the closest vaccination spot every day for work and it was almost always empty. I lived in a very red area so it was very much a case of "doors are open but nobody's lining up" but I was still not part of o e of the groups they allowed to get one yet.
So yeah, I will be continuing to keep up on it, because that was the worst 2 months of my adult life, and I am absolutely certain I got some of the cognitive side effects of covid.
Same reason that I, as a generally law-abiding straight white male sometimes get the FLEE response.
I know how cops like to act, and the fact that I'm in close proximity to one who has their attention on me means my odds of premature death have gone up substantially.
I'm going out with a girl after work and we're gonna play in the park.
(It's my wife and I'll be riding my bike while she tries to get used to inline skates again. We're in our 30s.)
But for real I miss being able to just..... Enjoy a playground. Go throw rocks at the creek with friends. Have sword battles with sticks we found while walking by the trees.
But if I do that, people call the cops because some old guy is clearly confused and wandering around...
My wife and I have been visiting half Price books and thrift stores to find dvds and blurays.
Me because I like director/actor commentaries, and behind the scenes/making of features, her because she hates when streaming services cycle through content.
Also secretly I figure if the world ends and I'm somehow alive, I've got my solar setup and several ways to watch my favorite shows to escape the hellish reality that is post-apocalyptic earth as I slowly die from malnutrition or radiation. But that's like.... So far down the list, I usually just bring it up for the lols.
Legit my first thought was "why are we celebrating TV RATINGS like they somehow equate to voting?"
You can have 50,000,000 people watch the same TV show but not buy any merchandise. A lot won't even have the ability to purchase something from the show.
And I sure plenty of people watching last night won't be able to vote for one reason or another.
I always confront those people with "and what do you think would happen to YOU in such a place? History doesn't think it will be good" but then they double down or make some mental gymnastic leap to why it's okay.
If all the joint chiefs and secretaries of [thing] said "we will be marching in Ottowa in 3 days" it really doesn't matter if the president said it. Because even if he hasn't said it in a press conference to the world, he most certainly agrees with the people who DO think it's a slam dunk.
I'm sure anything you said or linked would have been met with "that's western propaganda" like they're not shaking hands with MAGAts screeching fake news at things they don't like.
It's illegal to misrepresent emergency weather information.
Drawing a sharpie to make people who were not in the forecasted path of a hurricane panic and seek shelter/evacuate should be a minimum fine/90 days in jail.
Obviously neither happened.
I've seen police show and threaten arrest up over someone using the emergency broadcast tones too loud at a park on a nice day. But (at the time) commander-in-queef gets free passes to do illegal shit at least once a week.
Totally the same legal system for ruling(owning)/non ruling(the poors) classes.
That is a very weird way to phrase "Old man throws temper tantrum and refuses to do previously agreed upon interview when called out for lying"
As far as I'm concerned, every media outlet that sugarcoats things, or misrepresent things, or otherwise skews the truth about what the MAGAts are up to are 100% in bed with Republicans, and are mouthpieces for the MAGAgenda
