  • You could set their users up with non-power user access on the Windows host and that should be enough to keep them from accessing OS features or things they shouldn’t.

  • I think a lot of people get in these unhealthy mind tracks when they’re driving all the time. Passing subconsciously seems like it will speed up the time you’re stuck in traffic or dealing with uncertainty.

    In reality, just allowing things to flow the way they will and going with it is a much less stressful existence.

    I just have Ubuntu server running docker on my old workstation which has plenty of RAM to spin up a production-sized workload just to play around.

    I’ve setup these images up as Docker containers:

    • Portainer
    • GitLab
    • Nginx
    • Neftcloud
    • Grafana
    • MariaDB
    • RabbitMQ
    • Redis

    Just played around mostly, I haven’t scaled out any full infrastructure schemes yet, but that’s the plan for the workstation. Container and terraform testbed.

  • Unfortunately, I think the biggest argument for cars came mostly from Western countries and their quest for independence and individualism. Hindsight is 20/20 with this one, if people can’t see how detrimental cars have become it’s because they cling tightly to their “personal freedom” to drive wherever they want whenever they want.

  • The biggest issue with Windows is that their use of legacy systems holds their entire ecosystem back. They rely on 25-30 year old kernel-level services that were written for a completely different time when no one ever had to bother looking into what the problems were. Now if you take a peek into Event Viewer, it’s an absolute mess.

  • This is a very open-ended question. I think most people view faith as a spiritual thing. Having faith in a god or gods, but if you believe in something strongly enough, it’s possible you have faith in that.

    Gravity is kind of a stupid example, I’m going to use it anyway. If you have faith in the laws of gravity that means you genuinely believe and respect the laws of gravity.

  • IBM just doesn’t care, corpos are still going to use RHEL just the same tomorrow as they did yesterday. Oracle is in the position to throw shade simply because they don’t have market share with Oracle Linux to toe-to-toe with RHEL. If they did, they wouldn’t be giving away a free lunch.
