  • I'm downvoting both of you for being wrong.

Go download a copy of your Discord data from your account settings. Have a look through it.

It collects way more data about you than you know.

Also as much as it is for gaming chat only, soooo much extra conversation is collected.

And it's all going to a massive data mining company in China known as Bytedance. Otherwise known as Tencent.

  • You raise a good question, but here's the thing.

In Australia discrimination may be unlawful if it pertains to:

            age
        disability, or
race, including colour, national or ethnic origin or immigrant status
sex, pregnancy, marital or relationship status, family responsibilities or breastfeeding
sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status.

religion, political opinion, national extraction, nationality, social origin, medical record, criminal record or trade union activity.

The kicker here is - insurance companies are allowed to -- that's how their business works.

  • Executives will get higher than inflation bonuses year on year and employees suffer because of the executives raises and lack of innovation.

  • This has been exceptionally done to death on Reddit but I'll say it here since Reddit is dead.

    Authentication -

If what you're looking for is a login front end you could check out paper merge - personally I've got Keycloak and Nginx running so I can just make my own login page anyway and put paperless behind it.

Stuff with sensitive documents should probably not be on the internet anyway unless you're a really advanced user.

    Encryption -

In app encryption offers no security because the encryption key is stored in RAM and likely a database entry that must be unencrypted.

So the Devs are 100% correct in stating that it gives people a false sense of security to offer it as a feature.

Best bet is to have an encrypted filesystem or alternative encrypted storage buuuut, also understand that encryption key is also stored in RAM.

TLDR: There is no point in Devs offering in app encryption when you should already be encrypting the filesystem.

  • Rofl

They just call it "4" just to fuck with people

  • It's all relative.

More private than Google or Meta? Hell yes.

Suitable for whistleblowers and journalists reporting war crimes? Nooooo.

But Jitsi you can run it yourself and you should.

Understand that the public instance is provided freely as an alternative to Google and Meta, and whilst I agree encryption should be the default - it does add overhead for something probably running on donations.

  • My advice would be to enable iOS screen time settings and set YouTube to a small limit.

Once the limit is reached it'll nag you every 15 minutes.

If you're absolutely incapable of controlling yourself you could set up a second account to act as a parent which you'll need to seek approval from to extend or rather lock you out completely.

  • Given that noise cancellation thus far as involved multiple microphones to identify background noise - yes

  • You also didn't read the article, at all - clearly

  • Cut the porn to be honest.

Better yourself Get therapy Go for walks Enjoy space, enjoy being you Find hobbies Listen first, listen more Talk to people Take genuine interest in them without coming across like a creep If you work, be a boss or colleague that champions wellbeing and taking sick days If someone is sounding down in a team meeting, check in with them after

  • Omg yes

  • MacBooks actually have great parenting controls.

    Fuck Chromebook though

  • Literally people born with or contracting disabilities that leave them permanently destitute due to you not being able to eat or house yourself without work you can't do because your disabled.

  • That would be spammy and would blow up most people's feed.

I saw one guy publishing his whole backlog and he took up like 50 posts on the feed and I was just like "really dude?".

  • You haven't heard of it? It's arguably the best.

  • They're hiring you, not the other way around. So of course not.

  • You're highlighting that it's not a great solution, but at least a 2 hours of flat payment per office call would be an acknowledgement of my time considering it's an hour each way for the majority of people.

  • It's also the 20% payrise we all absofuckinglutely need.

  • In the bathroom on a stack of classified documents, again.
