  • I'd argue window management is a small part of the overall MacOS experience, and yes I agree that it sucks. However, with BetterTouchTool configured sensibly and raycast set up, I really like it.

A few things I really like about macos:

    • you can download an app and just drag it into your apps folder. No installation required. You can also just use something like brew with --cask Param then you don't need to even download the app first
    • You can modify most settings programmatically
    • CMD + , always opens settings in all apps
    • The os (or hardware??) Is very energy efficient, I don't have to worry about running out of battery
    • I like the menu bar is always at the top of the screen, and when using the Search function under "help", it shows me where to find the correct menu item so I don't have to search again next time I need to find it
  • Ah, could be that too! On Danish ikea I can't even see any non-induction. Although we also have some people that would always go for gas here as well. Could be some EU regulation too?

I'm also really surprised of the cost difference: cheapest ikea option for 4 heating zone stovetop would be 1500 DKK + oven for 975 Dkk, totalling what is approx 400 USD. Would have thought US was wayy cheaper here

  • Interesting. Wondering if it's due to difference in the available voltage? AFAIK in Denmark our stovetops+ovens used to pull 380 volt but now I think a lot makes do with 230v.

  • Uh. Wow okay. like everyone else except people associated with Epstein, I'd like these people to be brought to justice. But justice takes time AND ACTUAL EVIDENCE. Guilty by association is not a thing in modern societies.

  • Well again probably but not verifiable without a reasonable doubt. If you wanna institutionalise your association bias and kill them all anyways, I've heard North Korea has great frameworks for this sort of thing

  • Do we have concrete incriminating evidence of wrongdoing? Like, even if you have written extensively with Jeffrey and visited his Island, that still doesn't prove that you're guilty of anything. I think probably you are, but it's very difficult to prove.

Sure, you might even admit that you slept with women on the island - but again, how to prove that these women were not of consenting age, or that they were not on the island by their own free will?

  • NK dont fear invasion because China would not want to run the risk of having US forces on their doorstep. And China would not want to deal with millions of NK refugees. Hence that's likely an even bigger reason than nukes. Sure, nukes is also a really great deterrence, but even without they wouldn't get invaded.

  • Are these the "standard" to have in the US? In Denmark I feel like almost all stoves use induction, and I've never seen ones with this design here, but they seem pretty normal to have in US.

  • yea

  • Again, not sure what you want to accomplish by saying"people are sensitive", like, yes? Everyone has feelings.

I think there's quite a big gap between what you want to communicate and how it comes across. Like, what you are saying might be really smart, but it doesn't come across that way. So perhaps work on your communication skills, that way you don't have to elaborate on what you meant in the first place.

  • So you're saying this is how I can become a 10x engineer?

  • yea

  • Might not have been intended as a dig on the person you replied to, but if it had been me I'd take a lot of offense to your "AI much" comment

  • Wow this is some shitty ai slop. Quite interesting how bad the Ni Hao (你好) is written

  • Wow, that's a lot!! And some really deep rabbit-holes I'll dig myself into. Thanks for sharing!

  • Surprisingly interesting to learn about Wikipedia guidelines! Do you have some other fun facts to share about Wikipedia that might not be common knowledge?

  • Agree on that text only screenshots are often less funny but isn't that issue solved by downvotes?

  • Fair point, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • Out of curiosity, why would this be more appealing?
