Wel een relevant deel:
Daarom moeten we het stroomnet volgens Netbeheer Nederland efficiënter gaan gebruiken. In de praktijk is het maar op een paar momenten van de dag echt vol. Bijvoorbeeld in de avondspits als veel mensen thuiskomen, lichten aanzetten en gaan koken. Daarbuiten is nog veel ruimte die niet wordt gebruikt.
Ik heb zelf een variabel contract (heet dat zo?) waar ik een klein vast bedrag per maand betaal en voor de rest de uurprijs. Ben benieuwd wat er zou gebeuren als dat de standaard wordt, of zelfs verplicht.
Persoonlijk zet ik nooit de vaatwasser of wasmachine aan op piekmomenten, tenzij het echt niet anders kan. Ik heb geen kinderen en werk vaak thuis, dus voor mij is het ook wel makkelijk. En ik eet meestal 's middags warm en 's avonds iets waar ik niet mijn inductie fornuis of oven ofzo aan heb.
Volgens mij ben ik zo ongeveer de ideale stroomverbruiker. Ik snap uiteraard dat veel mensen een heel ander ritme hebben, maar er zullen genoeg huishoudens zijn die de piekmomenten meer kunnen vermijden. Moet je er wel een reden voor hebben natuurlijk.

I don't own a car so it doesn't affect me directly. Just hope they government doesn't remove taxes to make it cheaper. If they're gonna go anything they should make public transport cheaper and get people out of cars.

I understand you might look at it from your personal point of view, but you gotta be able to take a step back too.

The most powerful country in the world is sliding into fascism, we are months away from from perhaps the most consequential election in US history and the response from you is "nothing can be done, and thinking about it too much is bad for my mental health".

Of course I'm simplifying and I definitely empathise with the many Americans who are suffering and struggling, but if you think that my comment is "dangerous" then surely so is your defeatist message?

So much can still be done, and it's vitally important to keep caring and try and protect democracy and rule of law. Who is the "we" you are talking about? Because surely it's far from all Americans.

Yeah it's such an important feature to have. I don't drive a car and use public transport a lot. I use a regular old website for it which is fine, but having it included in a map app would be amazing.

I used to use Transportr --- https://transportr.app/ --- but at some point it stopped working for the country where I live.

Organic Maps does already work for the tube in London and other metro systems. Not live information, but at least in London they run so often that it didn't matter to me. Having the route was most important and in fact multiple times gave better results than when my partner tried Google maps.

Good luck Organic Maps team! I really hope they can make it work and I'll definitely make a donation.

I don't entirely agree or disagree with you. I think they have basically no chance of getting asylum because the dutch government doesn't see the US as an unsafe place and so in a way this is taking away time and resources from people who, like you said, are fleeing from things like civil wars.

Also as an american you can move to the Netherlands legally relatively easily! You need money, yes, but it's waaaaaay easier for an american than for basically any other non European. You can start your own company here, invest not even that much and you get a residency permit. I know multiple Americans here who have done this, including a non binary person (irrelevant but for them it was a reason to leave the US).

At the same time I can't blame anyone from wanting to escape a threatening and dangerous situation. Just getting on a flight is the quickest way to safety, so of course I empathise (and clearly so do you, just to make that clear).

Een aantal gedachten hierover:

enigszins mosterd na de maaltijd, maar goed dat er aan inwoners, en specifiek vrouwen, wordt gevraagd naar plekken die ze als onveilig ervaren
voelt eigenlijk gek dat dit er niet eerder was, toch?
al dit extra geld is goed, maar ik zie dan ook graag over drie jaar een follow-up artikel. Ben benieuwd of er alleen nu vanwege de huidige aandacht veel aan wordt gedaan of dat dit ook echt iets is voor de lange termijn.

Deze quote zette me ook aan het denken:

Ik snap het helemaal hoor maar we kunnen natuurlijk niet alle heggen gaan snoeien en soms zal er inderdaad 's nachts helemaal niemand zijn op bepaalde plekken. Ik vraag me af hoeveel ze weten over (potentiële) daders. Gaat je zulke aanvallen/moorden voorkomen omdat daders een kwartier extra moeten fietsen om op een verlaten plek te komen? Ik weet het oprecht niet en het zou zo maar kunnen, maar bijvoorbeeld extra camera's op bepaalde plekken verplaatst het gevaar misschien alleen maar. De moord op Lisa gebeurde rond 04:00, een tijd waarop zelfs delen van steden totaal verlaten zijn, laat staan fietspaden buiten bebouwde gebieden. Ik wil absoluut geen camera's overal, dus wat kan je dan nog eigenlijk doen?

Ik ben eigenlijk meer benieuwd naar veranderingen op bijvoorbeeld scholen. Wordt er daar meer over femicide gesproken? Leren jongens daar nu meer over hoe het is om als vrouw ergens alleen te zijn?

Except Flemish people tend to speak good French while people from Wallonia barely speak Dutch. I agree with your statement in general, but in the case of Belgium there's a lot more to it than that.

Not paid but where I live you get compensation for your travel time/distance (depends a bit on mode of transport, public transport vs car vs bike). I don't think anyone gets paid for their travel time, unless it's specifically travel for work rather than to work.

Wow oké nogal raar om zonder enige kennis de tweede wereldoorlog er meteen bij te halen maar goed, hier het antwoord:

Niemand weet op wie je stemt behalve als je ze dat vertelt. Het is niet eens mogelijk om te weten of je überhaupt hebt gestemd. Elk stembiljet is hetzelfde, er staat geen naam op. Dus of je stemt en op wie is niet te achterhalen.

De statistieken waar je het over hebt zijn inderdaad schattingen. Die zijn best nauwkeurig, zie bijvoorbeeld de exit polls en hoe close die waren bij de uiteindelijke uitslag. Het is niet perfect maar je krijgt wel een goed beeld.

Ik gok dat je nogal jong bent maar als je op school/universiteit het vak statistiek neemt leer je hier meer over. Of begin hier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_%28statistics%29

Don't know where you live but in many (maybe even most) places on earth this is completely untrue. So many people across all kinds of different countries spend lots of time socialising outside. I literally just returned from having dinner and sat outside, total cost with drinks was €13.50 for two people. Simple, no nonsense place with plastic table and chairs, affordable also for working class people.
