  • I reinstalled tasker again yesterday but then uninstalled it when it wouldn't work without giving it perms to draw over other apps.

    I use automate instead.

  • For signal, you can look into a fork called Molly. I have Molly setup, along with molly-sockets, which allows for notifications via unified push

  • I self host this, along with a ntfy server. Havent ever lost my phone since setting it up though, lol.

For me the gps updates appear to lag a bit, but show when I manually prompt for it.

  • I've done this as well for a number of years (probably close to 5 at this point) and have only noticed one service that got hacked and my domain got leaked. No spam at all really, but I've stayed on top of unsubscribing to all marketing emails

  • For passwords bitwarden is basically the given standard

  • Lol, in SoCal these are a landmark that most call "the boobs" or "the titties"

  • I mean I'm all for fining them but there's no chance they're getting 1000 euro/min lol

  • I've used trakd for a number of years with no major complaints. Its cools being able to look up an actor and see the "seen in" section, as I have it set up to automatically track my watches in jellyfin/IINA and then I manually enter the ones I watch on streaming services

  • Looks like one of the main maintainers will continue with a fork, tuwunnel

  • Isn't monocles a fork of cheogram which is a fork of conversations 😅

  • Thats promising. I may install in the next few weeks then. Looks like he's already put in a handful of commits

  • More meant ui/ux. It just feels slightly chunky and unpolished, compared to say element, signal or WhatsApp.

Like it feels like an older android app to me

Edit: looking at it now, probably the inability to hide contact pictures, as I don't have any so it's just a bunch of colorful numbers when I open the app

  • Do you know which maintainer? I was interested in setting up conduwuit this weekend but I'll probably wait a few weeks to see how tuwunel plays out

  • Does xmpp have as good of looking apps for android/ios?

I have xmpp accounts for jmp.chat and have been underwhelmed with the UX of cheogram for android.

Ideally, I'd like a low friction and good looking ios client to have IRL friends install to chat to me on as well.

  • Was very bummed to hear about this, was literally on my way to installing this on a new vps to connect to a handful of different bridges, when I noticed the repo had been archived.

Sucks as all of the other options are either not as feature-rich, or are resource intensive.

  • Lol yeah the spacebar is so much wasted real estate. Thats why ergo mech keyboards map it to a thumb cluster.

  • Yeah no definitely. This is a heatmap generated off of English words.

However Germanic/latin languages may be similar

  • This Heatmap is why I made the switch to colmak-dh.

  • Lol, our OLTP repo does semver 99 - > Dev/stg semver 100 - > prod

No clue why they don't adopt better branch names
