  • Just get a seedbox for a month to develop a good ratio and soothe your guilt.

Continue downloading things you actually want for your own use at home.

I had a seedbox for a few months several years ago and I'm still using the ratio I achieved from that time.

  • Exactly, there's no mystery. This is the plan.

  • That's not what's happening here.

Think of a database where nothing is editable. You can only add additional data. So you can't delete a post you can only add a deleted = true flag.

Much easier to keep this kind of database in sync.

  • They're the remnants of last year's propaganda campaign. No one bothered to deprogram them. They tend to fire off their lines at unpredictable times like a toddlers toy with a low battery.

  • Well, he doesn't pay contractors when it's his own money, but not sure if that will apply when it's someone elses money.

  • Just going to point out the obvious - these are bribes.

When you give money to help people who need food or accommodation or education or medical services that's a donation. When you give money to the president to build a ball room that's a bribe.

  • Anyone care to guess as to the likelihood that this new ballroom will be torn down in the next decade ?

It's silly, and not born of logic or reasoning, but it's been very difficult to shake the hope that one day democracy will be re-established and most of the dumb things this administration has done can be wound back.

Logically I know that this isn't how things work, it's just a dream.

That said, I feel like this ball room is going to become a symbol of authoritarianism rather than democracy.

If, for example, Kamala Harris was elected in 2028 would she just announce they're going to tear down the Ball Room? I'd like that, but it just doesn't seem like a thing that would happen.

This guy is a stain on humankind and I desperately want his legacy to be scrubbed from the Earth but I have to keep reminding myself that's not going to happen.

  • I usually eat things without the colour saturation turned way up.

  • Gas here.

    Its instant, no storage.

  • Things have gotten so, so much better over the last 5 or 6 years.

Flatpak, appimage, docker are just brilliant.

I recently discovered nix and am in that honeymoon phase of trying to hit every nail with that hammer.

  • Fair enough. I didn't know that. The ones in our neighbourhood know us because we do feed them occasionally and give them nesting material et cetera.

  • You could say the same thing about Australia really. 2% of your income unless you're very poor or very wealthy.

  • I was going to ask what universal actually means.

You're right that free GP appointments don't really exist anymore. However, anyone can roll up to emergency and be treated for free.

  • These birds are called magpies.

At this time of year their young are hatching in their nests and the parents get hyper-sensitive to people coming anywhere in the vicinity of the tree.

Usually they just swoop down and snap their beak near your head as a warning. Sometimes they claw at your head. Occasionally they get very aggressive and peck at you.

I've never been hurt by one, and don't know of anyone who has. The groundsman at my school got pecked on the cheek once. No big deal. It's really just the shock. When you're walking along minding your own business and suddenly under attack it's very jarring.

The best defense is to just watch them. They won't swoop if you're looking at them. Mum and Dad will flank you so you can't see them both though. I've heard people say that if you feed them they will remember you and be nice but I think that would take a lot of effort.

  • Australia here.

I've been saying all along that we'd happily exchange some fuckwits for some lefty seppos.

Chuck another shrimp on the barbie mate strewth.

  • Its not universally true that tariffs harm your own country.

If the US really is dependent on a specific thing from a specific country then that country can absolutely harm the US by applying a tariff to it.

  • Solid advice here.

    "My cat pukes"

"Maybe it's the saw dust and toe nails in the food"

Sorry. I'm not a cat person but even I know chicken butt-hole is a cheap filler in pet food but commonly causes allergies. A slow feeder sounds like it will cause more problems than it solves.

  • HR people are not immune to this type of issue.

It's not like they need to fire him, they just need to stash him somewhere else because you guys have done your time.

  • There are no decent GPT-detection tools.

If there were they would be locally hosted language models, and you'd need a reasonable GPU.
