  • I had to look it up because I didn't remember. Aparently "the hot chick" from 2002:

    https://youtu.be/BWMfj_wZ9Ec

SNL might have been first but not being from the US I've never watched that.

  • To extrapolate...

Phones are many and varied and while a manufacturer might assist google to ensure android is compatible they sure as shit aint helping any linux OS.

There is no gargantuan megacorporation funding linux OS development, and there is practically no revenue for the few small companies that do. This means the existing implementations are, not very well polished.

Because the UX is so terrible it's just a non-starter for non-enthusiasts.

Because there are no users there are no app developers.

  • Sorry, I didn't mean to be an ass. It's a dumb movie quote. I hope you get some proper answers fam.

  • Yeah i sure as shit do not know.

He has no redeeming qualities and seems to make the worst possible choice at every juncture but he inevitably seems to fail upwards.

    I have a few observations.

He lies about everything all the time with no shame. As in, reality doesn't matter it only matters what people hear you say.

He's always the centre of attention. He's always doing something controversial and is constantly on everyone's mind.

He's offensive. He offends the sensibilities of every rational person. Everything he says makes half the world feel exasperated and frustrated and angry, while the other half chuckles along because hes made the leftards angry.

He thinks and talks like an uneducated boomer, and that makes other uneducated idiots feel validated rather than feeling stupid.

  • You could put your weed in there.

  • Lets not pretend that they're refusing on any kind of ideological ground.

Their respective legal teams would have told them not to sign. I'm sure that acknowledging / signing would expose them to additional risk of litigation.

  • It's pretty obvious why you're engaging with this wildly boring echo chamber. Seems pretty unfulfilling to me but you do you I guess.

  • Well, I'm here for the light entertainment and pleasant discourse with like minded people.

    Why are you here?

  • I have less than no faith that American courts can deliver justice. Like they're unashamedly corrupt and follow party lines.

Its just not possible for an American court to convict a republican for their crimes.

  • Lemmy absolutely is an echo chamber, no one will deny that. The question is, why are you here?

  • That doesn't sound right to me.

Rice is serious business in our house.

All rice cookers will switch to a "keep warm" setting after the normal cooking cycle.

I don't think it's hot enough to prevent the growth of bacteria, although I'm not sure about that.

It is hot enough for the rice to start to dry out. After a few hours it would be "tough" instead of "soft and fluffy". After 24 hours it would be inedible.

As I said we just leave it at room temperature in the rice cooker and heat it up in the microwave as necessary. The texture and taste and... toxicity I guess, is fine for 36 hours. So if you cook it this morning then use it all before tomorrow evening.

  • Meat eater, cooler climate in Australia.

We generally put things in the fridge but are also pretty casual about leaving things out.

There's a lot of variables that would effect my inclination to consume something that had been left out for whatever period of time.

Cooked Rice is almost a perfect growth medium for bacteria. My Mrs cooks a batch in the rice cooker, doesn't refrigerate it, but consumes it all within 36 hours. That said, it has just been boiled so you're starting with almost no bacteria.

Dairy is the worst. Letting milk get to room temperature and leaving it for a half hour or so is going to dramatically reduce it's lifetime even if you put it back in the fridge afterwards.

  • They're in a growth stage.

I don't agree with them, but venture capitalists believe they are inventing a god, and that the first to achieve it will enjoy never before seen power, control, and ultimately wealth.

  • This is a really odd take.

you're 401k is being invested while the market is down

Sure but you just lost half your 401k, including half of what was invested while the market was overpriced.

When unemployment is high, [...] That results in lower rates for consumer loans. So people that have stable jobs [...] can take out loans

Yes, but lenders also tighten their criteria during these times because even a stable job is dramatically less stable during a recession or depression. It's very difficult to borrow money in an economic downturn.

When the market recovers, you've had years of experience

Sure but if the market didn't collapse you would still have those years of experience. During a collapse fewer people will have consistent employment.

It's a grind but at least they didn't end up drug addicts and alcoholics like so many others

Not sure where you were going with this part.

The universal economic truth is, in times of economic uncertainty the working class does the heavy lifting.

  • Yes but my point is, a brick layer isn't the best person to ask about the future of housing.

  • WHY IS THIS SIGN ABOUT COMICON AT THE AIRPORT?

  • I'm not American and I dont understand this part.

What do they need the democrats to do in order to pass the budget?

  • Complaining about how people dress at a fancy dress convention is prudish in my book.

  • I feel like someone working at the pointy end of R&D in AI isn't necessarily well placed to predict the future of AI.
