Sorry chief, if you don't see how monitoring your browsing behavior in order to choose what ads to show you has anything to do with privacy, then I don't know how to help you.
Setting aside that embarassing that turd of stupidity, my comment offered ads as an example of Mozilla's flagrant disregard for the desires of users.
The privacy issues I was trying to remember is that Firefox on Android does not have site isolation. Desktop firefox does (containered tabs by default). Chromium does on Android, not sure about desktop.
I can't remember the details but aparently firefox on android is not the bastion of privacy it is on the desktop.
You're best off with a chromium fork like bromite.
Also, now I think about it... I think mozilla is well meaning but they're pretty much cooked. Just a litany of errors and refusal to listen to users over the last 10 years has made their products pretty unappealing. Ads on the new tab page is a pretty good example.
Edit: the thing I was trying to remember is site isolation. Android Firefox doesn't have site isolation. Chromium does. I hate google as much as the next guy but there's plenty of chromium forks that don't send telemetry.
My biceps and pecs got a tiny bit bigger. Like I noticed but I doubt anyone else did.
The key I would recommend with a challenge like this is to start small. This is not a "start as you mean to continue" type thing. If you start with 100 pushups on day one you can probably tough it out but I'll be fucked up on day two.
If a gimmick like 100 whatever for 100 days helps you then that's great. However, it's just like any other kind of exercise. Some is better than none.
This is not a humble brag. I'm still overweight. I'm just trying to say this kind of thing is easier than it sounds and not really life changing.
Too often the "something" which may in some ways be better than nothing, is used as a token solution to soothe the requests of activists.
For example, banning single use plastics really grinds my gears. People feel like they've made a sacrifice, so they must have achieved something. However, everything at the supermarket is still sold in plastic packaging?
As in, its not "bad" that we no longer use single use plastics, but its not worthy of being called progress.
Like on a scale of 1 to 10 for plastic reduction efforts, 10 being "no additional plastic" we're about minus 30. Without this measure we might have been minus 30.2.
I agree that broadacre farming in 2025 isn't something an idiot can do successfully.
However, these people did vote against their own interests, which isnt very bright.
Its unknowable, but I'm curious how many have actually changed their political alignment in recent months. Very few I suppose.
There as an article recently quoting a few that were kinda saying they understood the need for some short term pain, but they were trying to tough talk. Something like "we will take the hit for Trump but it better turn around in less than a year".
As though they think Trump cares about them. He's very happy to sacrifice them on the alter of his enormous ego.
I just thought you'd be interested to know that the nutty is kind of leaking.
Thankfully they are very few, but we do have some MAGA Trump supporters here, and yes they occasionally say "make australia great again". Its so shameless.
I live in a place called albany, and yes on precisely one occasion I've seen someone say make albany great again.
We're having a local council election. About a third of the candidates are dickheads with no chance of getting up, and yes they include things like anti-woke and anti-DEI in their bios.
Seeing someone you love addicted to something harmful is very sad.
Being addicted to cigarettes or any substance isn't really relevant here.
The point I was trying to make, is that these sales tactics exploit a feature hominids have developed which would have been critical for survival. In situations where a reward is uncertain (hunting) a gland in our brain releases a stimulant to help us stay focused and look for opportunities to improve the outcome.
It's easier to avoid a trap when you know how it works.
