  • That last part really hits. The trains around here had a major outage last week, leaving me and like 100 other people stranded outside in the rain for like 3 hours. We all came together in solidarity, as hating DB is the greatest unifier.

  • Baggy pants would be one thing, but the kids around here are wearing these gigantic jeans that are somehow the perfect length to not crinkle up anywhere, making them look like they just have super thick cylindrical legs. Honestly, it's pretty unique and I kinda like the look.

    (I couldn't even find a good image online of what I mean because I don't know the word for it, but this is the closest approximation. Imagine the jeans were stiffer and straighter though, absolutely zero wrinkles)

  • I've been daily driving Bazzite with Gnome too for the last few weeks! It works perfectly fine, but I was weirdly unhappy with the aesthetic of it, despite knowing for a fact that I love Gnome, especially the bare-bones Gnome that CachyOS has.I only found out about Gnome extensions a few days ago while trying to get rid of the ugly Bazzite Logo in my top bar. It's probably super obvious to anyone else, but those extensions make such a huge difference and playing around with different ones is absolutely worth it!OP, if you do end up going with Bazzite, go to the "Extension Manager" and toggle a few of those on or off to see the difference! Getting new ones is super easy too!

  • Oh, good to know! I went from Win10 straight to Linux on my PC, and never needed it on my Win11 Work Computer, so I didn't know about that.

    Random sidenote, programming Paint yourself is an amazing beginner project! It's easy to explain, gives quick visual feedback when you change parameters and is very open-ended so that you can be very creative in expanding on it. I've let like half a dozen interns do that and they were very excited about it every time haha

  • It's also not helped by the fact that Windows no longer comes with a decent Paint program. Paint3D is weird af, takes forever to open and I don't know a single person who actually uses it.

  • Yeah, if everyone stopped eating at McDonald's, supermarket beef wouldn't actually get cheaper, but dog food would. There are a thousand more tricks and shortcuts like that in the animal industry - I'd really recommend watching Dominion, as it shows quite a few more of those

  • Es gibt bestimmte Produkte, bei denen so ziemlich jede Anzeige fake ist. Ich habe vor ca. einem Jahr mal versucht, einen MC Smart (die Lidl-version vom Thermomix) zu kaufen, und erst der 12. Verkäufer den ich angeschrieben habe war tatsächlich legitim (hat Paypal mit Käuferschutz akzeptiert, konnte mehr Bilder aus anderen Winkeln senden und der Name auf dem Paypal Account stimmte mit dem Verkäufernamen überein). Heutzutage habe ich echt keine Zeit für die ganze Frickelei und lasse das Kaufen über die Plattform sein. Verkaufen (ohne Versand) funktioniert aber noch einigermaßen.

  • idk about books, but I'm really enjoying Josh W. Comeau's blog! He's been mostly on a CSS trip lately, but his Rect and JS posts are very much worth reading too.
