Not unlike how some media is working on presenting the fediverse as a singular organization.It's as if some can't conceive of humans organizing without a corporate overseer.
Interesting investigation. Krebs on security first hit my radar some years back in on 2016/2017 when he was investigating the Mirai botnet. Apparently his investigation then proved accurate, and resulted in the conviction of the original authors.
