  • Bei mir ist es 300m zur Straßenbahn, dann fährt sie mit etwas Umweg zur nähesten Station meines Ziels und dann halt nochmal 300m Fußweg.

    Das sind gesamt etwa 6 Minuten Fußweg, da muss man aber noch beim Hinweg Toleranz hinzurechnen (Treppenhaus, Bahn fährt überpünktlich,...) also laufe ich 3-4 Minuten früher los.

    Die Fahrtdauer ist dann halt planmäßig etwa 27 Minuten, wobei häufig noch ein paar Minuten Verspätung hinzukommen, besonders morgens.

    Zusammengerechnet kommt man dann im Durchschnitt auf fast 40 Minuten, im Optimalfall auf etwa 35.

    Mit dem Fahrrad ist die Strecke halt sehr viel angenehmer da man den direkten Weg nimmt.

    Und Fahrräder nehmen wirklich wenig Platz weg. Baut man jetzt an Stellen mit vielen Fahrrädern, wie Bahnhöfen, mehrstöckige Fahrradparkhäuser, wie z.B. das hier [PDF] hat man auf einem minimalen Fußabdruck 160-190 Fahrräder. Jetzt vergleich mal ein Parkhaus für so viele Autos damit. Außerdem ist es sehr viel einfacher Abstelllimiten zu definieren und die die das Limit überschreiten "abzuschleppen".

    Klar, öffentlicher Nahverkehr sollte so weit wie möglich ausgebaut werden, nicht nur weil bei schlechtem Wetter die meisten Fahrradfahrer mit den Öffis fahren sondern auch für Menschen die nicht (mehr) Fahrrad fahren können. Aber öffentlicher Nahverkehr kann auch nur begrenzt häufig kommen und begrenzt viele Richtungen abdecken, weshalb Fahrräder ähnlich stark gefördert werden sollten.

    But this is not the first time a party was elected because of racism.

    No one is winning elections campaigning on kicking out Slavs. But parties have been compaigning against them. Take a look at how media was representing "Russian-Germans" in the early 90's. Spoiler: just the usual. "They're stealing social securities from families, getting everything handed to them....".

    Or how populist media has portrayed Greeks after the financial crisis:

    Not a single drop of racism to be seen in here, nope.

    Don't get me wrong, anti-Muslim and anti-brown racism is rampant in Europe.

    But that's only a subset of European racism, racist Europeans despise any and all refugees, regardless of skin color because they despise amy culture different from their own. Perhaps for the first two months of the Russian war of aggression they pretended otherwise. Afterwards however, the same. Identical. Populist. Talking points. Were used as in 2015.

    Also, perhaps don't apply fascist Poland, Hungary or Italy's behavior on the entire EU, there are many millions of Syrian, Iraqi and Afghani refugees in the EU.

    Also, European racism is far more complex than white = good, brown = bad, like in the US. Nazis wanted to eradicate "white" Jews, "white" Romani and "white" Slavic people because of their ""race"". Do you seriously believe current day Nazis love the idea of Ukrainian immigrants? Have you actually seen how racist Germans treat Eastern European immigrant workers from Poland or Romania?

  • Doch, Individualverkehr ist immer notwendig. Insbesondere für Kurzstrecken wird sich ÖPNV nie lohnen. Eine 5km - Strecke schafft man auf dem Fahrrad in ca. 15-20 Minuten. Mit ÖPNV + ein paar hundert Meter laufen bist du bei 40 Minuten (Quelle: mein Pendelweg).

    Nebenbei bemerkt sind Fußgänger auch Individualverkehr, trotzdem skalieren sich Gehwege und Fußgängerzonen sehr gut.

  • Honestly? As terrible as it sounds, it can be almost arbitrarily high if you look at the Geneva convention.

    For example, a hospital can be targeted after nothing more than a warning if the hospital isn't used for humanitarian purposes only. There is no minimum duration specified between the warning and the attack.

    Not that the Geneva conventions are a guide for morality. They solely limit the maximum of cruelty during war.
