  • What kind of strikes last 6 months to a year???

    99% of strikes last much, much less. No manufacturer in the world can last 6 months without workers. No software company can last 6 months without workers. No fast food company lasts 6 months without workers. No train, bus or airplane company lasts 6 months without workers.

  • True, I realized this after posting. After quickly looking it up, it turns out they were added a few years later and differ slightly from the rest of the flags. According to the probably correct source of Emojipedia, you can see the difference here:

    1. I believe flags are sorted alphabetically by how they are internally represented. All flags are a combination of two special letter-symbols. For the UK flag, these two symbols are "GB", therefore the UK flag should be much earlier.

    2. 🇺🇸 (Flag of the USA [code: US]) ≠ 🇺🇲 (Flag of the US Outlying Islands [code: UM])

    Yes, the first US flag, which most people pick, is actually the flag of the US Outlying Islands. Whenever you see someone use the US flag emoji, check whether they accidentally used the " wrong" one.

    You can access both communities, subscribe to both and post to both. Their content is (mostly) identical, the only difference is who's hosting it.

    There is no central authority determining the rules. For instance, Reddit can ban whatever they like and allow whatever they like. That's not how it works here. The only rules are what each community decides are their own rules. Certain communities, such as !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com no longer exist in some sort of tolerated limbo, unlike on Reddit where they could be shut down at a moment's notice.

  • Ah, sadly it's a singleplayer game. There are multiplayer mods (I think?) but I haven't tried any of them and I'm not sure how great of a first experience they are. It's a solid singleplayer game though with an extremely high skill ceiling.

    So how many whole numbers are there? The whole numbers are those: -∞, ..., -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ..., ∞Looking at what we previously defined, would you say there are 2 * ∞ whole numbers? After all, it's the amount of natural numbers [∞] + the amount of natural numbers multiplied by (-1) [∞], which is the result of ∞ + ∞, isn't it?

    But wait a second, are there really exactly infinite natural numbers? We could split the natural numbers into all even (2, 4, 6, 8, 10,...) and all uneven (1, 3, 5, 7, 9,...) numbers. But there are infinitely many even and infinitely many uneven numbers as well. So are there actually 2 * ∞ many natural numbers?`

    BUT WAIT, what if we split the even numbers up even further? How about all numbers divisible by four (4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24,...) and all numbers not divisible by four (6, 10, 14, 18, 22,...). Well, there are again infinitely many whole numbers divisible by four and infinitely many numbers not divisible by four. So are there 2 * ∞ many even numbers and therefore 3 * ∞ many natural numbers (2 * ∞ from even, 1 * ∞ from uneven)?

    As you can see, we can divide one infinity into infinitely many infinities. Multiples of ∞ aren't really any meaningful - they are just ∞ again!
