  • Depends on how you look at things.

Compare your life to the life of people 1 century ago, 2 centuries ago, etc…

News, social networks focus on shit. Lot of things improve. But news only focus on what is going wrong.

Lot if things are shit, but lot other things aren’t.

  • haha I am not British but the curved banana was a funny one

  • I buikt a minimal bot some time ago on reddit. It was very simple. It reacted with predefined response when it detected specific terms.

While it was mostly made for a joke. I was surprised how efficient this was. I received mostly positive return as well as some infuriating responses. Still this was effective.

The current platform appears to actively prefer the russian bot presence. So an option might be to provide a FOSS bot maker that anyone could easily use that will also have the property to be easy to not be detected immediately as a bot.

Then these bots should both counter russian bots and promote this bot creation tool or even platform (bit a platform would certainly be easier to detect and block).

But by doing so, the dead Internet is closer than ever.

    Code: https://git.esy.fun/yogsototh/redbot

See stack.yaml file for the env var to set. If you run it it should start a web interface. And you can create new bots from there.

  • UK - The office. If you are familiar with the US version, and like a little bit more spices. You will love the UK version. Some scenes would be impossible to be seen in US TV IMO. The UK version has my preference.

UK - Utopia. This one is a cult series for the people that appreciated it. It was pre-covid and IMO this is a masterpiece. I highly suggest to watch the correct version with the correct image ratio and not watch the cropped version on most stream providers. Unfortunately the last season was cancelled. But this should be a must watch IMO.

France - Guyane. Marvelous picture, and discovered an aspect of this world I didn’t have any clue about. Also I loved how different it felt from US series in general.

  • I am not sure but I think it was pong that was integrated in a classical TV. The "joysticks” were just a button to press and a wheel.

Or perhaps it was asterix on Atari 2600. Not sure which one was first.

edit: desole d’avoir repondu en anglais. Je n’ai pas fait attention.

  • If men learn this, it will implant forgetfulness in their souls. They will cease to exercise memory because they rely on that which is written, calling things to remembrance no longer from within themselves, but by means of external marks.

  • Fresh from university I found a job with terrible keyboards. After about 4 months I started to feel constant pain in my wrists. I then switched to vim.

And it solved my wrists issue. But also, I discovered a way to edit text that was so much optimized fat beyond my expectations.

I wrote this article for people that would like to familiarize with vi keybindings.

  • when you have a certain world vue your frame of reference is this one. And you will prefer to hide reality for a very long time before admitting you made a poor decision. Worse admitting your point of view is not moral, or problematic.

All of this to say, people will not make a direct correlation between facts and their acts. They will find another plausible (for them) explanation.

  • I will just mention “Troll 2” as the epitome of Vegaphobian movie.

If you are curious I also suggest you to watch “Best Worst Movie” (2009).

  • I selfhost using forgejo (the same project codeberg is using) and I only clone on github.

This should be a good first step to decentralize.

  • Once I went to Australia and I had a very long flight. I played Steredenn and I don’t really know how I finished first worldwide after a game that lasted forever.

And I stopped playing not because I lost, but because this was the end of the flight. More than 7 billions. It was a few years ago and I am the 10th now.

  • Clojure is pretty decent.

  • factorio

the dedication of the dev is perceptible, almost unlimited replay value and the will release a major extension in 9 days that looks wonderful.

  • purescript if you count “compile to js” as compiled.

    Otherwise Haskell

    • can AI replace the job of a real programmer, or a team of software engineers? Probably not for a long time.
    • can manager abuse the fantasy that they could get rid of those pesky engineers that dare telling them something is impossible? Yes totally. If they believe adding an AI tool to a team justifies a 200% increase in productivity. Some managers will fire people against all metrics and evidence. Calling that move a success. Same occurred when they try to outsource code to cheaper teams.
  • saw it, and I went put with the idea that it was an Alien movie whose target audience was young people that didn’t see the first alien movie.

I still prefer the original first alien movie. Like a lot, but this one is pretty decent. It was like a “netflix remake” with lots of copy/paste from the original movie. Some sentences are exactly copied, some scenes greatly copied and modernized for 2024 eyes.

The main differences that make the first Alien movie superior (to me at least). In this latest movie there is no “mother sound” in the original Alien the spaceship appear to breathe and live with a constant sound that really put you into the “Alien mood”.

Sigourney Weaver. Both her role and her acting were incredible. That is just decent in this new movie.

Critic about megacorps is visible in this new movie, but felt even more terrible in the older one IMHO.

Still, there are a few things not present in the original movie in this one that are a bit nice. The relation with the androids, some great action scenes. But that’s about it. If you love the alien universe it is a pretty decent Alien. If the first Alien is a 9/10 movie I would give this one a 7/10.
