Is there a comic already called "The Crow"?
Is there a comic already called "The Crow"?
So I had an idea for a comic, but I thought there's no way I thought of this first.
The basic premise is, crows are highly intelligent, and loyal creatures. They are social. And a group of them are called a MURDER!!!
So, what if there was a comic based on a group of secret people who call themselves "The Crow". The idea is, they're kind of like a rogue spy agency, and every one of them is "The Crow".
They aren't government aligned. They don't work with police. They are a self contained group. Anyone can join, if they remain loyal to the group, and share all info so it may be spread amongst this global group.
Reading the comic, you as the reader are never sure which characters are The Crow, except for one. The main character. He however DOES know when interacting with someone if they are The Crow.
So you follow one guy being a spy, and he'll get into situations where it all feels helpless. And then suddenly something happens that's meticulously planned out. The Crow has no fear of the future because The Crow knows the plan. The reader does not.
Imagine if the X-Men were basically like Men in Black, but they're not supposed to be good or bad guys.
And so you have the main character use intel to walk into a museum, and steal a vase. And then people in the building start freaking out because this guy has a gun, and he's stealing a vase.
And as the cops run in, a random other guy takes out a pistol, shoots both cops in the head before they even have a second to react to the first shot, and then blends back into the fleeing crowd. This allows the main character to get out without opposition.
Then, later when authorities come to investigate, they find there was a glitch in the security systems which means the cameras had a brief 20 minute blackout. And also, the vase is somehow still on it's podium which no one has an explaination for.
Then in a future issue you find out while the main character was escaping from the north entrance with the vase, and the cops were killed, thus all the attention is being paid to the north side of the building, another one of The Crow is walking in the back entrance to replace the vase with an identical one. And that was always the plan. So now the reader knows they just robbed a musuem, and replaced the genuine artifact, with a fake.
Then in the next issue you find out the main character stole a fake vase, and The Crow who entered the south entrance and replaced the vase was actually putting the real vase into the display, while the main character runs out the north door with the fake vase.
Then you find out that there was a quick blink and you'll miss it moment in a far earlier issue, maybe a year (real life year) where there was a reference to the musuem having been robbed of the real vase, so they put a replica on display. Maybe in the background a news report is on tv talking about it. Or maybe a newspaper laying on the ground in one panel. Then a year goes by with no followup. Then these issues. Just to let the readers read through old issues, trying to always find hidden meaningful details. No wasted motion.
Then you find out the musuem thing was all planned from the getgo. The security didn't glitch, The Crow spent 3 years working security just to disable the security in this one moment. The main character knew he was stealing a fake. The two cops had been on The Crows hitlist for a while. The Crow coming in the south entrance had orders to wait for gunshots before he made his move. And the getaway was as simple as running outside, putting the vase in a baby carriage, while this mother gets on a city bus. Meanwhile The Crow slips into an ally and can't be found.
The entire operation, from the time the reader opens the first page is a continually orchestrated plot of events, in which there is one rule. The Crow knows the plan. You do not. Therefore everything seems like a twist to the reader, but to The Crow, everything is going exactly to plan.
I can't be the first to think of this, right?
