  • I don't understand what it does, is it for easier reposting?

  • It may not really be selfhosting but, managed to get a live USB with persistence so that i don't need to carry a laptop around

  • For everyone saying it's the difference between the two numbers, it's not it. Because the last one should be 8 to follow the rule

  • I think the one I use the most is printables for mechanic parts and cults 3d for minis. I used to use mainly myminifactory, but they added a managing fee and that's made me avoid the platform since you pay a bit extra than the published price.

I've been trying to avoid makerworld, and creativity cloud since they seem to go in the direction to make it slowly more closed.

Thingiverse was fine, although it seemed a bit abandoned, but if you were looking for older models sometimes it's the only place.

I think it will be fine for a year or so, but they will push some kind of subscription or premium features.

The community on thingiverse used to be more about sharing and open source, and that seems to have moved mainly to printables. At least we have that option (for now).

  • That's why I haven't been able to identify what's wrong. The get stuck usually when opening or when trying to save/open a file. So I'm guessing there's some dependency that is not working correctly.

Otherwise they run fine when not interacting with anything. I don't really know what's happening and at this point I think it may be easier to just have a clean install and start over

  • Maybe this is why I've been having issues with several applications after some random update months ago.

It was fine for years, but lately I've been having several app open really slowly, mainly appimages.

  • About the linux support, not only its bad, they seem to actively hate it. Some games after getting bought by epic(like rocket league) lose their Linux support

  • Sadly most manufacturers still don't care about linux support. If you are lucky sometimes there's a community alternative. But even then some of the advanced features may not work.

What you can do is check on their website which drivers they have available, and avoid buying stuff that doesn't have Linux support when possible.

With more adoption I hope that it becomes increasingly available, although in practice I've seen several products drop their Linux support due to low users. 😢

  • It has an app, altough i never managed to set it up correctly. (I can log in but it shows empty)

  • I dont see why it need blockchain unless it's needed to keep a registry. Which for day to day communication I think it's excessive

  • The rule is that if its soft food as bread or jelly, its all compromised and should be thrown. If its hard like cheese, you can cut the mold and consume since the mold probably didn't get that far inside

  • I'm going to say something controversial. You could change your system to base 10, by simply stopping after 9 and using the other hand as the "tens".

This could be easier to see at a glance what number you are holding, it should become the industry standard

  • Charging for themes and tech support seems fine to me. As long as it's possible to do it yourself.

They need to make money, to continue the development and that seems a good compromise

  • I don't understand what's the bonus of suscribing for those updates. Are they better or come before everyone else gets them?

  • Don't give them more ideas

  • Sadly its really hard to change habits. But it goes both ways, every time I need to use windows I find myself grunting for every minor thing that doesn't work as expected.

  • Since it would make small quantities (at least at the start) and with better materials, I bet it would be also more expensive so maybe it evens out.

I would also buy it, I'm tired of household items that randomly break and the manufacturer doesn't care.

  • At least to compare software you can use alternativeto.net

It seems that the best way to avoid AI slop is to find a small community on the the topic.
