Usually a lurker.Maybe I should've just shut up and thought for a bit longer before writing that comment...

If you want to talk to me elsewhere, you know how to reach me.

  • Had the fun of waiting 60min for my appointment (I was 10min early).Feel you

    One time I had a cold and needed to see the doc because of work.Got an appointment for later during consultation hours and was misreable in the hallway because 15 other patients were waiting before me.Later went back, was led into an examination room and had again to wait 30min until the doc came to examine me.I waited 120min with a misreable cold in the hallway with several other sick humans (very great) during cold season.I know the practice is overworked but cmon ;-;

  • They are now animated

  • The end result is the same:You control what the machine does. The data as well as backups (assuming you arent using specific hardware offerings but just compute and storage)

Example:I am done with AWS pricing and Azure gave me a fat stack credits to go over there.Agnostic VMs could be backed up and migrated over to Azure.Essentially the same as migrating Hyper-V or VMware to Proxmox-VE

  • What I read so far:The dynamic scaling is what makes it worth it.Many of the traditional hosting offerings just give you a monolithic VPS/dedicated hardware. But if you want to up/downscale depending on peak demand during lunch hour it get's complicated.

  • Most of our customers are priced out of the hardware we bought zhrough the official distributor channel. They hiked the prices to 100% of the previous batch.Meanwhile we bought what we could from numerous resellers to make it DIY.

Not many small customers can afford to drop 10k on a mid/low tier enterprise grade hardware (2x 1.92TB TLC SSDs, RAID controller, Intel E-2434, 64GB DDR5 RAM)A few months ago this was (fully assembled mind you) around 2-3k

  • More in line of protecting against synthetic copy cats than piracy but k

  • Personally I dislike how helpless and useless it makes my fellow colleagues at research. No thought given, use the first web result (and in most cases, just accept the AI output as search gospel).

In my case it's only used for very obscure issue descriptions my google-fu isnt sufficient enough for or correlating weird bugs with each other.

  • No, admins neither should have access.Backups ahould (best case) be immutable.

  • I specifically mentioned Asian and including China.So...Please give me now a comparison to western societies like EU countries (or US if it easier to find statistics)

  • IONOS and ImpossibleCloud for instance are ones we use.I think Hetzner and OVH also offer S3 buckets.

  • There are numerous other vendors with S3 API-compatibility.

  • The education is also non-competitive and crippling for the not-so-gifted students, yes?

Because I don't hear about many student suicides (specifically due to stress and pressure) outside of the Asian countries.

  • Not if you want to validate S3 compatibility for an actual future use case or, * can you imagine*, just for the fun of it.

  • I find that Google is better at identifying the song while shazam always fails at it.Especially at more niche songs.

  • Nvmd can't read :pRead non-AI and slop as one word and interpreted as praise because the plot is well written.

  • It's that good?

  • Tbf non Gen-Z would also struggle if we'd remove their internet sevices suddenly. It feels like everyone in the cushy countries more or less forgot how to exist outside their world
