Hi I'm Aster, I'm an autistic transmasc demiboy. I like technology, art, and science. I'm also into the furry fandom. I mainly prefer he/him and ze/zir pronouns, but they/them is also acceptable. Also I am a femboy.

  • What would Ze/Zir represented as here?

  • I don't even like it when they destroy books to scan them by cutting off their spines. I prefer when they use scanning methods that preserve the books as well as possible. This feels just straight up evil.

  • This is what I've literally been saying. Stop being afraid to talk about using fake IDs they want you to self-censor this speech so people don't know and abuse it.

  • Use a fake ID. Yeah I said it. No one else is willing to come out and say it, if you really want access you should use a fake ID. The regulators who put this through are banking on the idea people will be against or afraid to use fake IDs and we should stay ahead of them no matter what the service they are trying to gatekeep.

  • Is this a real product?

  • Because they pumped out ads for it and paid astroturfers to promote it like crazy. It's not really that surprising. There are laws against deceptive advertising but they rarely get enforced, and when they do, it's usually a slap on the wrist. Which is how Brave can lie about browser privacy, get popular, and never get called out for lying in any meaningful way.

  • I think a lot of pro-Brave people are astroturfers, or heavily influenced by astroturfers. They are definitely not a first choice by any privacy advocate worth their salt.

  • PTB, what is up with Lemmy users defending anti-furry shit? I thought we were better than this. Shame on all of you who are sticking up for this mod.

  • This really goes against the whole purpose of buying a Steam Deck considering on Windows you will have a poorer user experience due to the lack of Gamescope and Windows' very poor non touch friendly UI. Maybe there's somethings that can make it better but it won't ever be as good as just using Steam OS or any Linux distro set up to use Gamescope and proton.

  • Honestly I kind of wish Valve didn't release the drivers. Make people actually work to get that abomination working if that's what they really want.

If they want it badly enough they should have to write the drivers themselves.

  • Is this one guy, one jar?

  • Maybe I'll give EndevourOS a shot then.

  • You need to have better OPSEC and you need to get over your hesitation to make and submit Fake IDs to services asking "let's get you ID verified". Online Anonymity was never really a right, you have to work for it, and you have to be paranoid to keep it. This means you need to break laws to keep it. How badly do you want it? If you draw the answer at petty laws then apparently not badly enough.

  • I don't think I'll ever use Arch, it's way too involved. I'll stick with Fedora on my Main system and Bazzite on my Steam Deck.

  • They didn't show their work citing misuse as the reason, which leads me to believe it's fearmongering and that it isn't going to work so well for the people who are actually trying (AKA have good OPSEC).

This is one of those examples of "It's not possible to be private online so don't bother trying" type propaganda posts.

  • The ones doing the identifying will argue that they are right until they are blue in the face because that's how we do things now. By lying harder until the ones you're trying to convince believe you or give up because it's not worth it to keep arguing. I've been accused of being other people or using AI to write, and those people argued or harassed me until I blocked them. I can probably expect more of this going forward.

  • This is a very misleading headline, this isn't really possible with people who use good OPSEC, and yes that means sharing identifiable information on LinkedIn. Also the developers aren't showing their work claiming it will be misused. Which leads me to believe this is a combination of people having really bad OPSEC and also fearmongering.

  • They still don't seem anywhere near as rugged as the tanks that were the IBM thinkpads and Early Lenovo Thinkpads. Which is a shame. The OG thinkpads were some of the best built laptops there were. Still better than some of the other cheap crap that passes for a laptop these days, but still a shell of its former glory.

  • Make sure to be clear that fake IDs are things you can make and use to bypass this. If using fake names on the internet isn't unethical to you all why are Fake IDs as a subject avoided like the plague?
