  • I remember having this "discussion" with someone on ML. I ended up pulling the actual digital document, in Ukrainian. Where it literally says, Elections are not to be held during martial law. (https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/389-19 if someone is interested)

Now I'm gonna give you some options, and you can play a game of guess what they did.

    a) Concede that they were wrong, and that Zelensky did in fact not cancel elections to remain in power.

    b) Declare the digital copy of the documents coming off an official Ukrainian website are doctored.

    c) Admit I am correct but that it has been edited since after the Invasion started, courtesy of "Zelensky the Dictator"

    d) Say that despite the law, Zelensky could, if he wanted to, hold elections, he just don't want to.

  • I didn't say pouring soap down is illegal, did I?

  • I'm just gonna say that where I live, it's a criminal offense to pour oil down the drain.

You're not just affecting your landlord. You're affecting your entire neighbourhood.

  • What is it you think we're talking about? This isn't some LLM. It's a very specific purposebuilt piece of software to analyse data from earthquakes and recordable shifts in the tectonic plates.

  • I disagree with your assessment. Modern machine learning methods will result in a far more complex algorithm than any human could device on their own. It will be "cheap" to execute, but only because of the vast amount of data it's been trained on. That's the strength. The raw number of calculations it can do per second means it can sift through more data in a day than a human could in its lifetime.

The biggest danger is hidden local minimums that can potentially distort new results and findings. But that's not unique to machine learning. And you can let the AI grade its result with how certain it is. Automatically flag any result that falls below a certain threshold. And again, this is where the danger of local minimum come in. Because it can raise the certainty of results when maybe it shouldn't be so certain. Though you will find out quickly when results are false with high certainty. Then you go back and you keep working at it.

As of this particular topic of earthquakes. There are no traditional tools of accurately predicting them. We've never been able to do it before. Now they think this might be able to. So we will just have to wait and see if its predictions are accurate or not.

  • How about you read the article before you start being outraged over your own false assumptions

  • Maybe he did mid air from a heart attack

  • I gave you but a selection of reasons why i dont find them reliable. In the other articles i viewed, I found their reporting of events to be obviously angled. Opinion pieces under the guise of being articles.

Me saying i find them closer to infowars than FOX News is my subjective opinion and where i place them on a scale between those two. It's not a question of it holding up or not.

  • Both quotes are factually correct. The company Mullvad is not involved.

  • You do you with your wall of text. Others who understand what reliable sources are have been commenting them and I've been able to form an opinion based on reliable information.

I have no qualms about shitting on those with dubious sources. That's how misinformation and propaganda is spread.

Your approval or lack there of means very little to me.

  • Sure. Have i rejected something on the sole basis of someones ideology? No.

The fact they are a political publication means by definition that they're biased.

If they weren't, they'd be politically neutral.

It's sad, that this has to be explained to you.

I did indeed hear about them for the first time recently, and the more i learned about them. The worse it got. They're not considered reliable

  • You are free to do what you wish. He is free to do what he wishes with his money. The other co-founder is free to think whatever he wants about it.

The only thing I've done is bringing up that "flamman" is not a reliable publication. And should not be used as the main source of any claim. Since then a smörgårdsbord of other more reliable sources have been dug up that corroborate the reporting of the party's views on certain topics.

  • Why would i waste my own time actively "researching" some irrelevant local party just to talk about it with strangers on Lemmy? I didn't know they existed prior and I'm certainly not going to vote for them regardless.

I dont know about you. But i have far better things to do. If you make claims. It's on you to provide your sources. Not on me to prove you wrong. If you provide shitty dubious sources, I'm gonna call you out on it. Because that's exactly how people fall victim to propaganda.

Someone else provided a link with lots of sources, most of which highly reliable, and i was able to form an unbiased opinion.

The guy is unhinged for more reasons than just his stance on immigration and immigrants, including the second generation.

  • Yikes. I followed the sources listed and yeah, the dude is legit unhinged. Not only for what he wants, but that he also thinks it'll be possible.

Things he suggest and wants require changes to the constitution. And changes to the constitution takes more than 4 years as it has to span over the next election cycle and be voted on (again) by the following elected government.

  • You're just too funny. I say it's a private donation, you respond

    "Wrong! Mullvad confirmed it"

So if I say it's a private donation, Mullvad confirmed it was a private donation... then I'm not wrong am I.

I've never denied that the donation took place. Keep up

  • It actually is one of the primary sports for women in the US. And their womens team is one of the best, having won the world cup 4 times, 91, 99, 15 and 19

And for 1 in 4 sportsfans to follow football in the US isnt THAT bad. More than i expected.

  • This is just the streisand effect at full display. It's election year. And the first time i hear about this party is not from political ads on the street, Tv, radio, debates.
