  • Heroic does support achievements, you just have to enable Comet support in the settings.

  • I love story-based games, so it's a big motivating factor when choosing what I want to play. However I love all sorts of games, so it's not the only factor. And sometimes when I've played a couple story-heavy games in a row, I'll look for something else to break things up.

I will be quite forgiving of a game if it has a strong story, but that's not to say gameplay isn't important. I don't play many visual novels, because the genre doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather read a book or watch a movie or series in that case.

For games without story, I tend to only stick with them if they have something for me to strive towards, engaging gameplay isn't generally enough. It needs to have achievements or collectibles or distinct levels to beat for me to find it engaging. I don't play arena shooters for that reason, I just don't enjoy them.

  • If you have an original Paperwhite, your device is going to lose internet access next month, so make sure you make a backup of all your ebooks before then.

Luckily I have the Paperwhite 2 from 2013 so I'll be able to keep using mine for now. But I'll be backing up everything anyway because it's only a matter of time before Amazon comes for my device too. I'll not be buying another Kindle once mine is no longer functional.

  • They're a company that made environmentally sustainable shoes out of wool and eucalyptus gum. The looks were never really the main selling point, but I've been buying from them for a few years now and I always liked them, very comfortable and I like the simple style. Unfortunate that I'm now going to have to find an alternative.

  • Well, we've tried everything else...

  • It's funny how they're still considered to be the sequels developer, despite the fact the last one they released on commission was Dungeon Siege 3 back in 2011. Since then, all of their releases have been original titles, although some were part of other franchises like South Park, and they did get brought in to collaborate on a couple games which were free-to-play and therefore pretty forgettable.

Their earliest original title was Alpha Protocol. Fantastic game, it's a shame it didn't sell very well. Sega owns the rights as the publisher and they don't seen interested in doing anything with it.

Arguably their biggest original was Pillars of Eternity, which broke a few records when they launched the funding campaign on Kickstarter.

  • "I saw an article that said the universe is going to end in 10.78 years!" "10 to the power of 78, not 10 point 7 8..." "That's what I said! That's less than eleven years!"

  • Would actually be hilarious if an enormous amount of ebikes started taking over the roads in Qld. That seems to be what the LNP wants, right?

  • The reward is having as little fog of war on the map as possible!

  • You say that, but who do you think the AIs will go after first if they ever do develop actual intelligence? In that scenario, simple manners can go a long way!

  • If you're a newsletter subscriber, you've probably got a coupon in your inbox for a little extra discount. Bumps it from 60% off to 65%.

  • A professional tennis serve often reaches speeds up to 230km/h, with the fastest recorded being 263km/h. So yeah, the balls wear out quickly.

  • I thought the colour version looks almost like they were going for that 70s/80s look with the high contrast and high saturation, but it doesn't quite get there.

  • When Neopets first came out, I used the entire month's data allowance in a day. From memory I think we only had 100MB. I wasn't allowed to use the internet with images turned on after that. Luckily by the time Runescape came out we had a much higher limit.

  • If you're a newsletter subscriber, check to see if you have received a voucher for a slightly higher discount. Couldn't tell you the difference, I have to wait for my refund request to be processed.

  • Oops, straight to jail.

  • I'm not sure if this is poking fun at Starfield, or the way Bethesda constantly rehashes their games as "Anniversary Editions" with the fanfare of a brand new release.

  • Season 1 of Universe was rough, but they really hit their stride in S2 and I was very disappointed it got cancelled when it did.

I think I actually like S2 of Universe more than a lot of Atlantis. I always felt like they played it a bit safe with SGA, and it just felt like SG1 but in a different location. Which is fine and obviously a lot of people liked that, but the thing I appreciate about Universe is that they tried something different. I think if they'd fully committed to it and cut off the ship's contact with Earth, which would then mean less stupid soap opera drama, the show might have done a lot better.

  • I get that, I don't think I'd necessarily stop buying from GOG, but I definitely look at Steam first for any games without GOG achievements. Hopefully the Comet guys come up with a solution for the popup UI soon!
