  • I finally grew out of project cars. I realised I love the idea of them, I dont actually want to do the work anymore, paying others to do it is ludicrously expensive, doing it yourself is merely expensive.

I bought a daily thats old enough to be cheap, fast enough to be fun and cool enough I dont feel like I got boring and I'm just maintaining it and making little improvements when its cost effective.

  • The funniest thing about this to me is that everyone at my work who is shouting about needing a gas tax was also livid when petrol stations immediately put their prices up the moment Iran was attacked.

Putting a hefty tax on LNG exports in the middle of an ongoing energy crisis would just make us look like profiteering cunts. Yeah we need to tax it, either at any point in the last 20 years (The Liberal party loves to forget that they could have done this at any time when they were in power too) or as soon as global supply stabilises.

  • I mean, as much as "Fuck A.I data centers" as a rule bringing existing multi-multi million dollar projects to a grinding halt after you already granted approval could expose the state to damages lawsuits. If I had millions into an approved project I wouldnt just eat the loss either.

  • It really depends on how granular the laws get in certain areas.

But for example indecent exposure may not be a mandatory register on the sex offenders registry, but within 200m of a school or playground is mandatory. (even if it was 2am on a sunday in the middle of the school holidays during the dead of winter.) Like the whole getting booked for drunk driving for being drunk and going to your car to get a jacket.

There are people who are on the register who shouldnt be and people who absolutely should be who arent.

  • Honestly the only good thing about the UK banning step porn is that with any luck I can stop muting my porn. Seriously when they call each other bro, sis, mom or anything I get a soft-off.

  • Michael is probably the hardest case of this too.

Its easy not to support, discuss or enable Kevin Spacey because while he was a brilliant actor in a few movies he wasnt irreplaceable. Michael on the other hand was likely one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. He was a cultural phenomenon.

A lot of allegations and concerning behaviors absolutely but no convictions and a lot of people who knew him who defend him absolutely. A lot of potential substance abuse or mental health issues but also a lot of financial reasons why people may have alleged things that didnt happen...

Michael is a very grey case.

  • If possible invest in NEW housing.

By funding a build and putting a built property onto the market its a lot easier for people to purchase without having to pay rent while the house is being built. I know people who do this and reliably make 10% profit every time.

  • That was the advice I got when I went to Europe.

Learn how to say four things "Hello", "Do you speak English?", "Sorry" and "Thank you" and most people will do their best to work with you.

  • Posession no but "brandishing" is a legitimate charge in a lot of places. Waving a gun around in a public place makes people nervous and if bystanders cant tell the difference then for the purposes of the charge you were brandishing a weapon.

  • If Chinas Navy pulled up and said "We're here to get our tankers. Go on, try and stop us." That would be a slap in the face he wouldnt survive OR he starts WW3... which he also wouldnt survive.

  • Theres no point in me trying to protect my data privacy because my wife has every last store loyalty rewards card, insisted on wanting smart tvs, everywhere she shops has her email for special offers, shops on amazon and uses google maps to go literally everywhere.

  • My point was that good policies can be interpreted poorly.

The company has people it KNOWS are first aid trained and they were trained recently. Letting someone who claims to know take precedence over someone who definitely does would be bad policy, switching out for someone who is documented as trained asap is good policy. First aiders need to sign waivers and forms saying they accept the risks and responsibilities, which limits the liability of the company if Bob doesnt make it or Bob had hepatitis. Standard corporate BS but sensible policy.

Some idiot interprets the policy poorly as "have the person relived by first aiders only" and refuses to let anyone else help.

  • Its definitely liability related but my point was that good policies can be interpreted poorly.

  • Its funny that the thing most likely to unseat the shameless capitalists is when the market wont bear the cost.

  • My workplace has a similar rule about CPR or medical emergencies. It has to be supervisors or the official first aid team members IF POSSIBLE. 1. Because we know all of the first aid training for those people is current. 2. Its traumatising for people to perform CPR especially if its ineffective. And we are to encourage staff to return to their duties or at very least advise staff to clear the area and give them some privacy because if you arent actively helping (Which this person was) you're just gawking and you need to fuck off.

Could very well be common sense rules that have been misinterpreted by an idiot.

  • Its very much the same as standup comedy. Its 100% you.

If people dont watch its because YOU arent entertaining enough, YOU arent likeable enough, YOU arent putting in enough effort and energy, YOU dont bring anything new to the table, YOU dont take enough risks... Theres no team, theres no band, theres no coworkers, its all on you. Thats a lot to hang your entire livelihood on.

I could only do streaming or a YT if I had "never work again" money because without the pressure I probably could be fun and entertaining the whole time.

  • My wife has warned her friends "Never refer to my husband looking after his kids as "babysitting" unless you want a snarky, probably very rude response."
