  • Gaining trust starts with accountability. People who have abused their position of power need appropriate punishment and be made to pay for the damage they have done.

We have taken a "let's just move on" strategy too often in the past. The American people aren't going to buy it this time.

As far as trust for America the country is concerned, holding guilty parties accountable will help that too, but mostly what it will take is time.

  • Ya, some breeds vocalize way more than others. I had a Lab that was virtually silent, and now I have a Shepherd mix that vocalizes to the extent that it's almost like words.

  • Nena, yup. First one I thought of. She did it in english as "99 Red Balloons" but I like the original better.

  • I was going to say: one nation for the whole world. But your idea covers more ground.

  • This is a bit outside the box, but you might want to go to the hardware store and look at safety glasses. There are a variety of tints and they are wrap around, making them superior for actual eye protection. Glasses that are open on the side are harder on your eyes.

Granted, you might not care for the look.

  • Don't assume smaller means safer. When I was volunteering at a shelter regularly, everyone there agreed that small dogs were more likely to attack than big ones.

  • Probability and statistics are part of the high school math curriculum for the majority of students in California and we have our share of compulsive gamblers. Just because a person knows something doesn't make sense does not assure they won't do it.

  • For me, the YouTube algorithm is the worst thing about YouTube. I consistently shows crap that is either very low quality or uninteresting. I use YouTube all the time, but just use my subscriptions or search. The front page is junk.

  • Back in my working days, I had the WFH option and after some experimentation I determined that I was most happy and productive if I was in the office on Monday and Tuesday (most weeks) and home the rest of the time, in spite of having a long commute. Socializing at work is often undervalued.

  • Ya, and if you shop online put purchases in your shopping cart and let them sit for a few days.

  • That's silly. Everyone knows they are called motes.

  • Maybe try for therapy dog certification. Appropriate training and testing is available in some places, not sure about Mississippi. Many hospitals and nursing homes recognize it and will allow certified dogs and handlers into their facilities.

For an ESA, all you really need is a therapist's note, but recognition isn't guaranteed.

  • Or better yet roll it up in reverse and leave it in the sun on a warm day.

  • When my daughter was in middle school our dog sent her texts quite often.

  • Plumbing.

  • I have a pair of crows that I feed regularly, but they aren't what I would call friendly. They won't come within about six meters. I'm hoping this will improve over time, but It's been about five years so I doubt it.

  • An unkindness of ravens?

  • Viola, with proficiency somewhere between beginner and just plain bad. But it's still fun (for a given value of"fun").
