  • 2026 UEC Track European championship, 1-5 Feb.

  • Championships are occasionally shown on public broadcaster TV (DR, Danmarks Radio) - but most of the time you have to rely on Eurosport/Discovery/HBO Max - but that's the same with road racing. Both road and track cycling features prominently in the news, though, which is of course because Denmark does pretty well in both sports.

  • It's decently popular in Denmark, but the only thing I've noticed so far is the crazy world record the Danish 4k pursuit team set yesterday as the first team under 3.40.

    That's an average speed of 65 km/h from a standing start.

  • Not a small race at all, but I was very impressed with the way Brennan and Lund Andresen got over the hill in the Mapei Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

    I was also impressed with the way they managed to keep it all together in the final, with Brennan being perhaps a little too eager to close gaps and stay at the front. Maybe that's what cost him the victory in the end.

    Very convincing victory for Welsford who had the best leadout and the best sprint today. Lund second, but from the overhead shot it was clear that it wasn't close at all. Also, the little climber i mentioned for the Prologue (Anthon Charmig) was ninth in the sprint, which is sort of crazy.

  • Great. Only issue so far has been a specific VPN for work which does not have a Linux installer and no drag and drop replacement for Snagit. But that's just work stuff, everything on the private side works flawlessly for me.

    What a lovely victory by Tobias Lund and Decathlon. It's important for him to show that he's fast enough to win so he won't be ignored for Kooij.

    First WT victory too in his first race day for them.

    Speaking of odd results, Danish rider Anton Charmig came 21st - and he's a tiny climber who's never shown any sprint or TT ability. So either he's in killer shape or Uno-X has some really fast gear this year, or a bit of both I suppose.
