  • Do you consider LanguageTool the same as using AI to write?

  • The grammar and spell check is not an issue, but if you're using the rewritten alternatives for a sentence it's definitely a toss up. Granted, it just uses what you've written and provides a few different ways to relay the same info, but then again, it does this via AI. So really idk, but I've used LanguageTool rewrites on most of my college papers and I haven't had any issues. In the big picture, it's nothing close to using an LLM to write a paper.

  • Like most things in biology, neurological disorders are on a spectrum. So the bystander who chimed in with their opinion should be taken with a grain or salt. It comes down to the patients neurobiology, care team, meds + the associated regiment, as well as their desire to treat the disorder. Neurbiology is a highly unique aspect of every human, so anothers experience with it will be pretty biased by default. I was in a long term relationship with someone who was bipolar, but the only reason we broke up was because we were in our mid twenties and had no real idea what we were doing. If your son wants to maintain his relationship with his partner, thats fully an option, it'll just come down to staying in front of it!

  • Even if the other forms of energy and matter from the supernova explosion were removed, the ultradense burst of neutrinos alone would literally vaporize someone from the inside in close proximity. While neutrinos are most often harmless, this is one of the few times they can be lethal. In a core-collapse supernova, roughly 99% of the energy is released as a burst of neutrinos, totaling about 10^53 ergs over 10 seconds. So the neutrino flux from the supernova would be so insane that enough neutrinos would collide with the atoms in your body to deposit lethal amounts of energy. This ultimately leads to one being vaporized from the inside!

  • No, the package systems, management tools, and configs for Debian (what Mint uses) and OpenSUSE are different. Technically, if you had tons of time and a solid understanding of Linux inside and out, you might be able to pull it off, but it's not worth the hassle at all.

  • A band that is slept on hard and legit my favorite active punk band is Get Dead. Their album Dancing With The Curse is unreal cover to cover. It's just 32 minutes long, but it's a god damn classic! My favorites on it are Stickup and Confrontation. The signer was a hiphop lyricist originally, which you can kind of hear at times, but I'd say he was meant for punk rock!

  • Yep, as of this week at least... For some background, Vitamins A, D, E, and K are the fat-soluble vitamins. This means overdosing on them can take quite a long time to fully recover from. Excessive Vitamin A can result in significant liver, bone, central nervous system, and skin damage, as well as hair loss. But I've not once heard RFK say anything about dosage, which is idiotic for someone in his position. Vitamin A's primary role for humans involves regulating cell/tissue growth and differentiation. Vitamin A's main prescription usage is for cystic or nodular acne under the brand name Accutane. Accutane's dosage needs to be very dialed in, so much so that the patients using it must get monthly blood work, if not bimonthly or weekly. Additionally, women must agree to not get pregnant on Accutane, as it leads to severe birth defects and other pregnancy complications. But sure, the dude in charge of the department of health sees no need to say anything about dosage, just that taking Vitamin A is helpful for measles while there's an exceptional vaccine readily available...

  • This is a sorting feature of Lemmy, your Subscription feed shows only the communities you've subscribed too. But with Lemmy being small-ish in daily active users, sorting by All isn't too uncommon. I'm pretty sure this is what's going on with OP, or at least that what I assumed here.

  • So, the term Fediverse basically refers to the ActivityPub protocol and the associated server software. Technically, it's not just ActivityPub, but also the AT protocol and nostr. Another layer to the Fediverse, at least in my mind, is having some federation. Meaning Bluesky isn't apart of the Fediverse, even though it's built on the AT Protocol, because of it's isolation. Since there's no interaction with Lemmy, Mastodon, PixelFed, or other federated social networks, it's not part of the Fediverse.
