Reddit refuge

  • People mention the AI bubble popping because the rest of the American economy is already shit. The housing market is already seeing prices drop from Covid highs. Most major brands are going up-market because the typical consumer market is tapped out. Almost all non-AI tech is on the right side of the S curve, limiting growth.

The only thing good about the market right now is a bubble that keeps blowing up.

  • There are already heat exchanging systems that do this with brackish water already; you don't need to treat water if all you ate doing to the water is making the water hotter or colder.

  • I'm not the person who posted it, I'm just explaining the rational as requested.

  • How are they confusing it?

I ask because the cubicle movies of 1999 generally showed office jobs as soulless life sucking experiences, but they may be seen in a much better light compared to today's corporate hellscape.

  • The USA has had a victories after World War II. However, it usually requires a limited set of strategic goals.

  • Yeah, you probably could produce a medical tricorder right now which could detect if someone is dead.

  • Most animals raised for meat have been undergone breeding by humans to increase desirable traits at the expense of survivability in nature. Those animals are unlikely to survive in nature.

Even if they could, it would wreck local ecosystems if all meat livestock was freed to nature.

  • What would stop advertised from buying accounts?

  • Being able to take it in a way where their friends and possibly their future self realizes that they were a dick.

  • Hello. Nice to meet you too. I hope you like it here.

It is great to see that people in China can participate in this little slice of Internet.

  • What I do now, use old.reddit on my computer and keep to the subs I can't get on Lemmy.

  • There may be some mental tasks that other animals can probably do better than humans. However, if you're talking about complex topics like mathematics, I would bet on modern humans being better given that being good at math is far more likely to be an evolutionary advantage to humans over other animals.

  • Usually it is intent. Does the stalker show up in multiple places where the stalker knows the stalked is supposed to be? Does the stalker show up to private locations uninvited?

  • I've worked with contractors, so yes.

The best I've done with dealing with it is to speak in a "if this were to happen, this is how you're fucked" manner so I can have a conversation about the wreckage of their decision without getting them to admit that they did the thing.

  • To answer the second part of your question, yes. Improv is good because it forces you, not an external source, to process a set of information quickly to fulfill a stated goal. It is also good for working on public speaking and interpersonal skills.

I knew one engineer who took improv as a way to improve interpersonal skills and to be able to respond faster in client meetings. When talking to them and they brought it up, I responded "Yes, and?"

When I tell people I don't know the answer but where they can find it and they don't go and read where I told them to read.
