  • These fuckers don't let you unlock the bootloader, so they can burn for all I care. So far, google have the best record, then oneplus, fairphone and alike (easy to unlock the bootloader, no point or ability to relock with custom keys), then mb xiaomi (beg corporate overlords for the ability to unlock the bootloader on YOUR FUCKING PHONE) and slmsung (loose the option to unlock the bootloader on newer firmware versions, loose security features on older ones), and then huawei/crapple who don't let you unlock the bootloader at all

  • 50% lighter

  • Reminds me of a thought experiment, which, with some assumptions, calculated that the final solution while preparing a homeopathic "medicine" contains more Hitler's piss than whatever the active ingredient was originally. Y'know, in case the fact that, in quite a few of those, a molecule of said active ingredient corresponds to more molecules that are estimated to exist within the observable universe isn't enough

  • To quote flippanarchy,

  • Why would people use it on macos, tho? I mean, they have a somewhat proper terminal by default, so vim/emacs/helix/etc are a more or less natural choice...

  • Regarding interesting messengers, there's also briar (remember somewhat recent stuff with normie news outlets being unable to shut up about some apparently famous dude making a messenger that works over Bluetooth? Briar is that, but quite a bit more mature, and also capable of working over WiFi and tor). Then, simplex, which builds upon the idea of not having a permanent id. Finally, there are reticulum meshchat, sideband and nomadnet, which are similar in purpose to briar, but take the idea to the extreme (being reticulum-based, they potentially work over anything capable of transmitting binary, from sound to entangled particles)

  • I doubt most people actually dislike "ai", but rather the ways it's used. Like, does it make sense to say one dislikes hammers? I mean, it is a valid sentence, and maybe there are like 3 glue enjoyers who think hammers are an abomination, but it isn't a general sentiment.

For example, I personally hate that the web nowadays pretty much turned into a place where bots write articles to appease other bots, and where actual people need yet another set of bots to throw away the folk tales of someone's great great grandmother's cooking practices and leave only the 3 lines telling how to cook pasta.

  • I interpret it more like a plane rather than a square, so I didn't really think about the edges. But yeah, fair point

  • Technically, communism is pretty much anarchism, since it happens once the state is abolished. What you meant is socialism

  • Efficient, tho.

  • Noice. Hope it doesn't mean.they want to drop manifest v2 or something.

  • Old not scary movies are also not scary → old not scary movies are bad. So are new scary and new not scary movies. Hence, movies are bad.

  • It is, tho. Child porn, in particular.

  • No True Scotsman has a gender, apparently

  • I mean, given possessive pronouns (?) do a full 180 in terms of meaning once it comes to power structures (our dictator president = dictator president over us), they kinda do

  • Should we remind them their own department of war once published tm 31-210, that happens to have mindnumbingly simplr gun making instructions with pictures? If sb wants to make a gun and doesn't give a fuck about laws, they'll make it not only regardless of unenforceable restrictions, but even regardless whether or not they have a 3d printer.
