Different presentations, different expectations. Also, you can hardly call the shit show that this comment section was "crickets".
In any case, L.W never presented itself as being democratic, nor having a "Free as in Freedom" approach to governance.
Dbzer0 does (or at least did) present itself as being against authoritarianism in governance, and being democratic. As the leadership in that governance began pushing for rules that causes users who were there primarily for "free as in freedom" rather than leftism to leave or be excluded, the pool of voters will shrink and become more of an echo-chamber. (Similar to how other leftist movements have slid into authoritarianism)
I ended up finding my home on .zip instead, where I get to pick these sorts of things for myself.
In any case, the actions of an admin have far more significance than those of a regular user. Someone saying "You are X, all X should be killed." (I.e, you should be killed) is an explicit threat, and if it were me I wouldn't want to be in touch with that person either.

You can achieve essentially the same effect via blocking. Bypassing defederation instead requires using a different instance.

You're right, that would be idiotic. Good thing I didn't define authoritarian that way, and no, it is not a meaningless word, you can (in fact) look it up in a dictionary which describes the meaning fairly well.

Voting to block a domain and having that domain blocked isn’t comparable to electing an authoritarian leader.

Nobody has said that? What it does is remove the choice from each individual, which is authoritarian, even if done via majority vote. There was nothing stopping those who wanted the domain blocked to do that themselves.

To clarify, I was referring to visibility of deer and items. The situations you mention here limit the vision of the driver as a whole, and then the visibility of things no longer matters. Where I live we also have lots of deer, but accidents involving deer & other bigger wildlife is uncommon enough to make the local news (and you'll almost never see such roadkill along the roads). During the season I'll see animals several times per week, sometimes having to stop more than once on a single drive.

Nastiest run in I've had was where a group of deer had gotten in between the wildlife fencing on a stretch of highway

It looks like wet pavement.

That's the part that makes black ice nasty. The temps can be slightly above freezing with wet spots everywhere. Then suddenly one small spot has slightly lower temperature. Bam, black ice.

I agree that drivers have a much larger responsibility, barring reckless behaviour. What I disagree with is driving being inherently dangerous. It's a question of system design. As you mentioned Wisconsin, I assume you live in the US. My condolences.

This is simply incorrect.

Deer are very visible at night due to their reflective eyes, coat (which is not black) and movement. They can be spotted at >150m distance with high beams on. The reason they (and other wildlife) are dangerous is because they can jump into the road at the last moment from behind cover.
Stationary items are usually a very low threat since the driver has a long time to spot them. Bigger ones (such as a tree, bin or car) are also inherently more visible. Also, the worst case is damage to the vehicle.
Adding on, it is usually mandatory for broken down/stopped vehicles to have their hazards on and put out a warning triangle ahead if they are in the road.

As an intelligent being, you are ultimately responsible for your own continued safety. The good news however is that most drivers try to avoid hitting pedestrians.

If you spend a lot of time around traffic at night, a simple reflector tag does wonders to increase your visibility and lets you take more space.

I don’t fucking understand how anyone could watch trump and think that this guy has any brain cells.

It's an easy trap to underestimate Trump, but the fact is that he is anything but stupid. He sounds absurd because we aren't the target audience. That is why the media laughed in 2016, they aren't either.

The fact is that he is an excellent showman and good manipulator. He won based on an electorate fed up with a hypocritical and out of touch establishment voting for the "fuck you" option.

I'd vote for him. Back when Biden was dropping out, I posted the question of peoples preferred democratic candidate, and Kelly was suggested by several people.

I think he could have won the '24 election had he been the candidate, and I think he could win the next election also.

The fact that (as he said in the video) he "Doesn't consider himself a politician" is a huge plus.

It's a bit sad that he's starting to get old though. 60 seemed perfectly okay, 65 is a bit on the high end.

they also have to provide the additional labour of keeping hate speech off the platform in perpetuity.

The developers can choose to lock down and effectively disable discussions entirely if they want.

Steam simply provides devs a service, easy access to host a forum for their game w/o having to manage that separately. Using it is completely optional.

1W of installed capacity would yield 24Wh of energy at 100% in 1 day at capacity. (1W * 24h = 24h)

Hence, you are getting an average of 6Wh / 24Wh * 100% = 25% capacity. Your winter numbers end up being 4-12% and summer 25-50% of capacity.

Wh/Wi/h is your capacity factor.

Not really. Unless there are some breakthroughs in technology that significantly lower capex & opex for grid scale energy storage, they'll be sticking around for a long time.

There is an asterisk on the 1TW number, and that asterisk is capacity factor. In practice it means that depending on the time of year and location, the effective output of your solar panel will be between 0-40% of label capacity .

In my country for instance, you can expect 0-2% output from a panel in the winter time, which also happens to coincide with the peak demands (heating). Luckily, our politicians had some foresight in the 70s & 80s and built lots of hydro and nuclear power, which has been the backbone of our grid ever since (despite attempts to dismantle it).
