Mid 30's IT/Medical Device support and quality guy. I like cycling, video games, and singing.

  • I had to have a hard conversation with my wife and in-laws about posting pictures of my son online. They agreed but didn't get it. Once AI deepfakes became common, they got it.

  • Here is something moderately unhelpful but still personally important. Switch to librewolf. I dont get Firefox trying to autofill old or unhelpful logins on Librewolf and I use bitwarden.

  • It's helpful for the new kids to lay out the ratchet theory in an easily digestible way before we do it again.

  • You forgot to add the Red wave in '28 if the Dems capture congress and sit on their hands again like the Biden years.

  • In order:

    1. The devices operate on line of sight. In an urban environment, this is hampered by buildings are trees but, enough highly placed relays help.
    2. The GPS will auto acquire if so configured but I'm not sure what you mean about the topology. Unless you are running a device that containers a screen and map program configured to interpret the data, it isn't a feature of the device itself.
    3. Text only. This is a low bandwidth connection only good for a small kilobyte sized package. The devices can use MQTT to feed environment monitor information. These are intended to be a robust but not quick communication protocol. This can be "upped" slightly depending on your settings for LoRA.
  • A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder: megamix edition

  • I really wish more people would walk away from forging the chains of our own oppression.

  • Plus plenty of smart poors. Imagine what we could accomplish if they all left this planet and really allowed us to fix it?

    The dream....

  • I'm of the same mind. The fix is in. It's really a question of if they are smart enough to execute and have the assistance they assume.

  • Truefully, they've been cooking the books on these measures since 08. Its just so much more obvious since they have the subtlety of a hammer and all the civil servants who would have helped them do it the normal way left.

  • Another consideration is the hollowing out of government statisticians and availability of data. Even the massaged nonsense we've been fed for years is getting curtailed. Thr economy will be what they say it is. They have optimized to the metrics to make line go up. Reality need not matter to those whose entire wealth is in the markets.

  • Market manipulation, friend. Tesla stock continues to pump in spite of fundamentals due to hype.

  • I might have loved it if it didn't run like a slide show on fairly decent PC hardware. I haven't been able to even make it on the ship without these huge frame drops. There's no way to fix it that I can see. It makes it hard to deal with. Also, why is the FOV so close, I can practically smell the commander's hair? Right, if we back off the FOV, we can barely maintain 30 FPS. It's another unoptimized game that we are just supposed to enjoy cause Star Trek. I'm tired, boss.

  • Luckily, it's a lot easier to train electronics inspectors than decent coders who can follow the whole system or module design. That should help for a bit but, man, to be the QA person looking at that atrocity....

  • You know its bad when they can't continue to subsidize beef into the ground to justify the herds. Maybe this will have a net positive like gas prices spiking and forcing more people to change their habits.

  • Y'all it's the Spongebob coffin meme.

  • Dammit, beat me to it.

  • Yeah, Medtronic is a bunch of assholes for things like that. If you really wanna rage, look at how the company does everything they can to not allow communication between blood sugar live sensors and pump controllers. Biomedical enthusiasts (I loathe the term biohacker) have been working this idea with older, more easily hackable pumps.

  • That is slightly part of the problem but, no where near the totality of the issue. The broader issue is capitalism only works with the fear of homelessness and being cast out if you dont dance to their tune. Some of the population must be unemployed to keep the working class in fear. If you didnt have to work for housing, food, and healthcare, would you put up with the bullshit we do at a job? I certainly wouldn't. They know that too.

As much as I was annoyed by the tone of the statement made by previous poster, we have to reach out and lift up. We cannot keep putting the boot down on people just because their life took a path or they are making choices we feel are incomprehensible and must require a defect of some sort.

We have to support each other cause the State ain't coming over that hill to save the day.
