  • This is me tbh. I don't value video games as part of my life to the extent that I will pay 70 dollars (or really almost any dollars) for 99% of them. I already don't do that for games that have/had Denuvo that took years to crack. I just forgot about them and did something else. I'd probably just read more books if I couldn't pirate games because I'm not spending that much of my income on them.

It's also the same argument that record companies tried to use for the last few decades when a majority of the piracy stats were from countries you couldn't even buy their albums or it was prohibitively expensive to do so. Avatar (the blue one) was the most pirated movie of all time at the same time as it was the highest grossing movie of all time. One download = one lost sale has never been true.

  • It is on IzzyOnDroid. Didn't think to clarify, but good catch.

  • Always used Thunder. Open source, on F-Droid. Works well, even takes suggestions for features on Lemmy.

  • Nazi is a slur if you put some stank on it

death to the Zionist entity btw

  • Zionist is a not a slur and you're sucking down some Grade A hasbara shit if you think so.

  • "Crappy attitude" from the person literally making shit up. China's policy has always been the desire for peaceful reunification with Taiwan through diplomatic and economic relations. They have only escalated militarily when Taiwan, goaded by the US, has done so first. And only in the interest of self-defense. Their official policy is to wait as long as it takes for that peaceful resolution, believing that events like the breakdown of international relationships with the United States will encourage Taiwan to return to the fold. They have said they will only attack if absolutely necessary in the event that the United States forces them to by turning Taiwan into a close range missile platform. Which has always been the intention of the US since they stopped the PRC from finishing off the fascist KMT that fled to Taiwan and slaughtered the native people in the first place.

  • China has no intention of attacking Taiwan unless the US tries to create a Cuban Missile Crisis on the island.

It's funny that you say they are not innovative when China is making new scientific breakthroughs on a near daily basis, in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, and every other field. Their high tier cities make the US look like a poor country.

  • Does WeChat still have the issue of randomly locking overseas accounts? I traveled there many years ago and lost contact with all the friends I made because WeChat decided my account was somehow suspicious after returning to the US. I needed someone else with an account to verify me, which I obviously couldn't get.

I've seen people travel there more recently and they don't seem to have any problems, but the app reviews indicate it still happens frequently.

  • Of course. Not encouraging that kind of abuse. More just suggesting people not use the project at this stage. If things change and the dev chills out, maybe it'll be good to pick up later. Calibre Web and it's jank database system needs better competition that is focused on Ebooks and not audio/comics/manga.

  • The said in their reply that they've been trying to maximize their Claude sub within the last 1.5 months, but they've been using it for a while. Which I know people are going to split hairs about "vibe-coded" vs. "ai-assisted", but they admit that their pace has been unrealistic due to AI contributions. They did say they cancelled their subscription and are going to try to correct course. Up to you if you believe them. Booklore trajectory has never felt good to me when major bugs go multiple versions without being fixed, so I'll still stay away.

  • What is your example of a 'good' one?

  • Open Source @lemmy.ml

  • Kind of disappointing. My main issue with Graphene isn't even that you have to use Pixels, necessarily. It's that I think Pixel hardware sucks. Motorola isn't really known for their hardware either at this point. So still good news, but if it's just another midranger with Graphene pre installed, I'll pass. Let me use it on other Chinese brands or even a Samsung (lol).

  • Pretty concerned. I have access to copyrighted content that I want to share elsewhere, but because it requires a log in, I always wonder if there are invisible trackers hidden in the files that would out me. I think it should be standard that all sites strip things like exif data automatically upon upload. Hexbear does this.

  • The article links to sources you're probably more familiar with. Are Politico or The Sun propaganda too? How about Zelensky's own account? The one where he posted a picture (the one in the article) of himself hanging out with neo Nazis?
